"Choo Sung Hoon's worth must be proven" Director Song Jun-seop expressed his high expectations for Choo Sung Hoon.
The first broadcast of the joint production by ENA and EBS, "Choo Sung Hoon's worth must be proven," will air on Saturday, July 26 at 7:50 p.m. In this show, "The Man from Nowhere" Choo Sung Hoon will challenge extreme jobs around the world and enjoy the local survival journey as much as he earns through hard work. As it has become a hot topic due to its fresh combination with Kwak Jun-bin and Lee Eun-ji, Director Song Jun-seop revealed behind-the-scenes details about casting and key viewing points.
Director Song Jun-seop stated that the reason for casting Choo Sung Hoon is that he is "the funniest person in Korea right now" and that he was particularly drawn to the "The Man from Nowhere" character. "Choo Sung Hoon also wanted to meet various 'The Man from Nowhere' characters from different countries and experience authentic local travel. I heard he had many offers from other travel programs, but he chose ours," he noted.
Kwak Jun-bin mentioned that he was brought on board because of his character as "The Man from Nowhere Killer." He said, "I thought the combination of Choo Sung Hoon, 'The Man from Nowhere,' and Kwak Jun-bin, 'The Man from Nowhere Killer,' would work well together. I also have a friendly relationship with him from doing the 'Kwak Jun-bin's World Chefs' series." Additionally, he added, "Kwak Jun-bin is an expert who has traveled to about 50 countries, so I sought his advice a lot during the planning stages," which raises anticipation.
Meanwhile, regarding the rising entertainment star Lee Eun-ji, he said, "It seems that she is really captivated by the word 'worth.' She mentioned that she worked numerous part-time jobs during her anonymous days, and it reminds her of those times. She seems curious about whether she can prove her worth wherever she goes," which highlights growing interest in Lee Eun-ji's performance.
Previously, the roles of Choo Sung Hoon as the team leader, Kwak Jun-bin as the accountant, and Lee Eun-ji as the search manager were also revealed through a Chinese poster. Director Song Jun-seop explained, "Choo Sung Hoon will accept the tasks prepared by the production team as the team leader, and sometimes he will need to find work himself. The members decided to fully trust and follow the leadership of the team leader," which piques curiosity about Choo Sung Hoon's role in leading the members.
He continued, "Kwak Jun-bin is the accountant. He is also 'food knowledgeable,' and since he wants to eat something really delicious with the money he earns from hard work, he has taken on the role of the accountant even though he is 'a failure' at it," drawing laughter. Lastly, he said, "Lee Eun-ji is very lively and warm. She approaches locals in a friendly way and actively communicates, creating an exceptional chemistry with the locals," raising curiosity about what will be shown through the broadcast.
In addition, Director Song Jun-seop also revealed three key viewing points. First, he emphasized, "This is the first travel program that Choo Sung Hoon is challenging," adding, "He will attempt extreme jobs and compete in charm with unusual professionals from around the world while experiencing local places, and viewers will discover Choo Sung Hoon's new charm."
Secondly, he pointed out that viewers can meet unusual extreme jobs from around the world, such as herbalists from Baekdusan, merchants on the Nile River in Egypt, and employees at the most expensive liquor factory in China, adding that "the daily wages vary drastically by country."
As a final viewing point, he mentioned the "chemistry among the cast," saying, "Choo Sung Hoon is a responsible father, Lee Eun-ji is an attractive eldest daughter, and Kwak Jun-bin feels like the youngest member who has big ambitions but a quiet voice. It was nice to see the three people who didn't really know each other become close and think of each other like family. I realized again during this filming that the journey is more about who you go with than where you go," which suggests the birth of a relational gem.
