Jo Yuri said she was deeply shocked after watching Yim Siwan's performance in the ending scene.

On the afternoon of the 8th, an interview was conducted with Jo Yuri, the lead actress of the Netflix series 'Squid Game' Season 3, at a café in Soekgye-dong, Seoul.

'Squid Game 3' portrays Gi-hun, who loses his closest friend in a game he re-enters with his own purpose, the Front Man who enters the game in hiding, and the final fates of the participants who survive in a brutal game. Season 1 premiered in September 2021, sparking a global phenomenon and setting viewing records. Season 2 was released in December 2024, and it will finally conclude with the last series.

Earlier, 'Squid Game 3' recorded 60,100,000 views in just three days after its release, ranking first in all 93 countries where Netflix compiles its TOP 10, not only in Korea but also in the United States, Japan, France, and Brazil. This marked Netflix's first production to achieve the number one spot in every country during its first week of release, demonstrating exceptional box office performance. Additionally, it entered Netflix’s all-time series (non-English) list at number 9 during its first week, with Seasons 1, 2, and 3 all ranked within the top 10 of Netflix’s most popular series (non-English). Furthermore, in the global TOP 10 of audience numbers from the past week, Season 2 ranked third in the series (non-English) and Season 1 regained interest at sixth place, reflecting the significant attention it has garnered from global fans. Currently, it has maintained the number one position on the OTT ranking site FlixPatrol for 10 consecutive days.

Jo Yuri, a former member of the girl group IZ*ONE, made her official acting debut in the 'Squid Game' series. She plays the role of Joon-hee, who participates in the game after losing a large sum of money due to believing incorrect investment information from her ex-boyfriend Myung-ki (played by Yim Siwan). She joined in Season 2 and plays a character who gives birth to a daughter during the game, bringing a major twist in Season 3.

Jo Yuri described the man like Myung-ki, saying, "He's the worst. The setting where he disappears when breaking up was also the worst," adding, "However, I felt a bit sympathetic again because I heard that 'Myung-ki is being chased by a creditor.'"

In response to the question, "Have you ever met a man like that in your life?" she clearly drew the line by saying, "No. I haven’t met a bad guy. I don’t want to meet one until I die," eliciting laughter.

In particular, Jo Yuri stated that she had not received the script for the later parts and the ending, and she learned about the story surrounding Myung-ki, Gi-hun, and the baby only by watching the broadcast.

She recalled, "It was really shocking. Due to circumstances, I couldn't know the drama's script, and I figured it out while watching the live broadcast," adding, "When I had interviews with Siwan oppa, he kept apologizing, saying 'I'm sorry,' and I thought, 'Why does he keep saying that?' But after watching to the end, I was shocked. I thought, 'Ah, this is how it unfolds.'"

Jo Yuri also mentioned, "While I was shocked, I felt that Siwan oppa did the last performance so well that, although I really hated him, I felt he was an amazing character. As soon as I saw the last episode, I contacted him to say, 'Your acting is so wonderful.'"

'Squid Game 3' was released worldwide in over 190 countries on the 27th of last month.
