MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Mary Kills People' has released its 'main poster,' showcasing a 'fateful gaze intersection' among Lee Bo-young, Lee Min-ki, and Kang Ki-young.
Set to premiere on Aug. 1 (Friday) at 10 p.m., MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Mary Kills People' (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, directed by Park Jun-woo, written by Lee Soo-ah) is a suspense drama dealing with a doctor who assists terminally ill patients in dying and a detective who pursues them.
'Mary Kills People' has become a topic of interest as director Park Jun-woo, who perfectly interprets thrilling action with refined directing skills in 'Taxi Driver' and 'Crash,' collaborates with writer Lee Soo-ah, who skillfully unravels colorful character narratives in films like 'The Law of Arousal,' 'My Special Brother,' and the drama 'Employment Insurance Romance.'
In 'Mary Kills People,' Lee Bo-young plays the role of Woo So-jeong, an emergency medicine doctor who assists in dying at the boundary between life and death; Lee Min-ki portrays Jo Hyun-woo, a terminal cancer patient for whom no treatment is effective; and Kang Ki-young takes on the role of Choi Dae-hyun, a former plastic surgeon who bridges warmth and seriousness in assisting Woo So-jeong (played by Lee Bo-young) in dying, promising an irreplaceable acting spectrum.
In relation to this, the intense 'eye triangle' main poster featuring Lee Bo-young, Lee Min-ki, and Kang Ki-young, released today on the 8th, is drawing attention. The fateful relationship among the three people, involved in the choice of death, is visually emphasized, providing overwhelming impact.
The 'main poster' expresses Woo So-jeong and Jo Hyun-woo (played by Lee Min-ki) and Choi Dae-hyun (played by Kang Ki-young) through 'face close-ups' positioned in various directions, maximizing tension. On the left, Woo So-jeong has a unique aura with a pained expression, looking down. On the right, Jo Hyun-woo gazes sharply at Woo So-jeong, while Choi Dae-hyun looks down from above, intensifying curiosity with his focused gaze on Woo So-jeong.
Notably, the phrase 'Euthanasia... Is it the best choice?' is placed between Woo So-jeong, Jo Hyun-woo, and Choi Dae-hyun, foreshadowing the tense triangular relationship where each must make decisions at the boundary between life and death, intertwined with their respective beliefs and emotions. The restrained gazes of the three, crossing in different directions yet never meeting, reveal a subtle temperature difference, igniting anticipation for the weighty narrative of 'Mary Kills People.'
The production team said, 'Through the 'main poster,' we sought to capture the complex relationships and entangled truths of the three protagonists' and added, 'Please look forward to 'Mary Kills People,' which will pose profound reflections and significant questions about life and death, and the choices surrounding death revealed in the 'main poster.'
