North Korean defector broadcaster Shin Eun-hee confessed that she was treated as a spy by her mother-in-law.
On the 5th, the MBN program "Sokpuli Show Dongchimi" (hereafter Dongchimi) discussed the topic "Having a great husband turns out to be useless."
North Korean defector broadcaster Shin Eun-hee is married to a lawyer. Shin Eun-hee said, "I also went to law school, and my husband did as well. When the topic of marriage came up, my husband said we should register our marriage first. The two of us without any thought just ended up registering our marriage. After that, we booked the venue without even a word of consultation with our parents. Then we informed them. I think it was an action to show that 'I am going to marry you' as we anticipated our parents would oppose. I couldn't tell my mother-in-law that we registered our marriage, so I introduced myself instead."
She explained, "The first thing my mother-in-law said was, 'That one is definitely a spy.' There is some truth to that. My father-in-law was a high-ranking military official. She said I am a spy trying to get close to my uncle and steal information. Whether I am from North Korea or not is secondary; the point is that I am a spy. I heard my husband was quite troubled at first."
Shin Eun-hee said, "How much did they wish for me to marry into a wonderful family? They opposed a lot when I said I was marrying a girl from North Korea who came from a worker's background. When I finally talked about registering our marriage, all hell broke loose. They wondered if I had any sense. After a lot of ups and downs, we ended up getting married."
