Since comedian Jo Geum-san passed away, time has flown by, but the longing for him still deeply remains in the hearts of many.
The deceased was found dead in a vehicle near Lend Island in 2017, at the age of 54. His unexpected death without a will shocked and saddened many.
Jo Geum-san was an individual who brought laughter to the public through his diverse activities during his lifetime. In particular, he was known as the real protagonist of the catchphrases "Oh, President Kim~" and "Nice to meet you" through the greeting scene with Kim Sung-kyun and Hyeri in the tvN drama "Reply 1988," drawing attention once again.
Debuting as a KBS second phase public recruitment comedian in 1984, he was loved by viewers while active in popular comedy programs like "Humor No. 1." In 2002, he moved to Los Angeles, USA, and worked as a shopping channel host, and after returning to Korea in 2010, he continued his active career in broadcasting and musical theater.
After returning to Korea, he appeared on entertainment programs like SBS's "My Love" and stood by the public as a familiar face, also challenging to transform as a musical actor. However, his sudden death shocked everyone despite such active participation.
Members of the group U-KISS, who appeared in the musical "Summer Snow" with him in Japan in 2013, also expressed deep sadness. Soo-hyun noted, "Mr. Jo Geum-san, I wish for the peace of the deceased. I will not forget the memories we shared," while Gi-seob also stated, "I will not forget. I wish for the peace of the deceased," honoring him.
Fellow comedians remember him fondly. Lim Ha-ryong appeared on KBS 1TV's 'Morning Garden' in 2018, reminiscing happily about the activities of comedians in the 1990s, saying, "Kim Jeong-sik has become a pastor. Jo Geum-san and Yang Jong-cheol have passed away," expressing his longing.
A comedian who filled an era with laughter, Jo Geum-san. His voice and comical expressions may no longer be seen, but the joyous legacy he left behind still vividly remains in the memories of many.
