Actor Lee Joon-hyuk recalled the filming set from the past, saying, "I was treated worse than an animal."
On the 4th, actor Lee Joon-hyuk appeared on the YouTube channel "Baek Eun-ha’s Giving and Receiving" and shared his thoughts with Baek Eun-ha, the director of the Baek Eun-ha Actor Research Institute.
That day, Lee Joon-hyuk talked about his journey from starting in directing to transitioning to acting, saying, "At first, I thought I could foolishly direct a short film. I had nothing and I was young. I just did it haphazardly. A lot of people gathered at the Academy, but I had to teach acting, and I didn’t know anything. That moment was really embarrassing. So I thought, 'I need to learn acting' and that's why I started learning it."
Lee Joon-hyuk recalled, "And during my 20s, the filming set was a hardcore time. I worked overnight, took a lot of criticism, and honestly received a lot of treatment worse than an animal."
When Baek Eun-ha expressed surprise, saying, "Is that true?" Lee Joon-hyuk revealed, "For example, they get you drunk the night before, saying, 'You have to drink as an actor.' But the next morning when you show up to work, they say, 'Did the actor drink?' It’s kind of like that."
Lee Joon-hyuk continued, "Even when I go to meetings, they ask, 'Why haven't you become a star yet?' I didn't intend to become a star. There were many incidents like that. Looking back, there were a lot of rude things. That's how you become stronger."
Lee Joon-hyuk reflected, "I think there was also energy about wondering, 'Why can’t I be more than this?' Overcoming those things was important. And because I truly love this industry, that core feeling was significant. Some seniors can understand character placements and those kinds of things just by looking at the script once, but I couldn't figure it out. I felt frustrated and crazy about that, and I think I spent a long time dealing with it. It’s still similar now. I wonder how the production works now. That’s my purest feeling about this job."
Meanwhile, Lee Joon-hyuk confirmed his appearances in upcoming projects such as the Netflix series "Lady Dua" and the Tving series "Lottery First Place Also Attends" and announced his busy schedule.
