Comedian-turned-doctor Kim Young-sam delivered the unfortunate news.
Kim Young-sam said on the 4th, "My father passed away three days ago, and I hurriedly returned from the United States to complete the funeral and will return to the U.S. I have my own principle of handling personal matters quietly, so I did not announce the obituary and also politely declined flowers and condolence money from those around me."
He added, "The obituary my younger brother created turned out a bit differently from the one I sent, causing some inconvenience to my brother. Many people who found out contacted me, but I turned off my phone for three days and only just turned it back on, so I couldn't respond. I apologize and thank you."
He said, "My father was born as the youngest son in a family of daughters in the Gwangsan Kim clan from Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province (grandfather 44 years old, grandmother 41 years old) and had a relatively fortunate childhood (He even wore a Swiss Rolex watch, which I also do not possess anymore, in middle school). He lived happily and was loved by those around him throughout his life."
Finally, he said, "The funeral was held today. Many people have said it would be good to pray for his repose. I apologize for not being able to inform everyone about the funeral in advance. Please pray a lot for my father's repose." He added, "Thank you for bringing me into this world, father. I hope you reunite with your grandparents in heaven and have a joyful time there."
