It has been 10 years since actor Han Kyung-sun (the late) left us. Many people still remember his warm smile and profound acting, expressing their condolences.
Han Kyung-sun passed away on July 4, 2015, after receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Seoul. He was 53 years old. The sudden news was a significant shock to both the entertainment industry and his fans.
Born in 1963, the deceased made his debut as a talent through KBS's 10th public recruitment in 1989, appearing in various genres such as the dramas 'Dae Chuna-mu Sarang-geolyeot-ne', 'Yeojeong Commie', 'Jumong', and 'Dae Joyeong'. In 'Morgan'Si', 'Gwanggaeto the Great', 'Ruby Ring', and 'Cuckoo's Nest', he shone as an essential supporting actor.
His acting was always warm, and he as a person was the same. During his lifetime, the deceased began volunteering for disability welfare after experiencing side effects from plastic surgery, and many stories have been told of his kindness in helping economically struggling production teams and neighbors. He often attended local senior citizen events and built deep bonds with the community.
However, the sudden farewell came during the filming of a drama. After completing the filming of MBC's 'Great Mother-in-law' in 2015, he felt unwell on his way home and sought medical attention, later collapsing due to a brain hemorrhage. He briefly regained consciousness on July 1 but ultimately did not recover and passed away on July 4.
During the funeral, colleagues continually arrived. Park Jun-geum noted, "Just go there and don’t suffer..." unable to continue, while Yoon Hae-young said, "He was someone who generously gave to everyone," tearing up. Kim Yoon-kyung recalled, "On a dinner day, he said he had a headache and hit himself with his fist. It seemed he had already experienced paralysis on one side."
One colleague who watched him until the end recounted, "Even when he briefly regained consciousness, he asked why he was in the hospital and requested the script. He kept repeating that he needed to go to the set." It was a moment filled with his passion as an actor.
The remains of the deceased are preserved in a location in Seoul. Ten years have passed, but Han Kyung-sun remains a 'warm actor' who continues to convey a positive influence in the hearts of many people.
