Han Kyung-sun passed away on July 4, 2015, while receiving treatment in an intensive care unit at a hospital in Seoul, at the age of 53.
Born in 1963, the late Han Kyung-sun debuted as a talent in the 10th KBS public talent contest in 1989 and appeared in diverse works such as the drama 'Love in the Jujube Tree', children's drama 'Fairy Commie', historical dramas 'Dae Joyeong' and 'Jumong', gaining the love of viewers. In addition, she made a deep impression in dozens of other works, including 'The Sandglass', 'The Great King Gaeguk', 'Ruby Ring', and 'Cuckoo's Nest', playing notable supporting roles.
The sudden news of her passing brought great shock to many. On June 19, 2015, after filming and dining for the MBC daily drama 'The Great Joksang', she suddenly felt unwell and went to Gangnam St. Mary's Hospital in Seoul. At that time, she was recovering without surgery, but on June 30, she collapsed again and lost consciousness, eventually being diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage. She regained consciousness briefly on July 1 but soon fell into a state of unconsciousness, passing away on July 4 after treatment.
Colleagues who were with the deceased until the end expressed deep sorrow. One colleague noted, "Even when she briefly regained consciousness in the intensive care unit, she asked why she was in the hospital, saying she needed to go for filming while looking for a script," which drew sympathy. Park Jun-geum, who met her at the funeral home, couldn't continue talking and said, "Just don't be in pain there..." Yoon Hae-young remarked, "She was someone who generously gave to everyone," shedding tears. Kim Yoon-kyung said, "On the day of the gathering, she said her head hurt and hit it with her fist. At that time, it seemed she was already experiencing paralysis on one side," as she wiped her tears.
The warm philanthropy of Han Kyung-sun during her lifetime has also been reexamined. After experiencing a difficult time due to side effects from plastic surgery, she began volunteering for disability welfare and helped financially struggling production teams and neighbors.
