Liam Gallagher of the band OA has come under fire for making derogatory comments about Asians ahead of his upcoming visit to Korea in October.
On the 1st, Liam Gallagher posted a message on his social media account that included the term "Chingchong."
"Chingchong" is a mocking expression for people of East Asian descent perceived as Chinese, and is a racially derogatory and discriminatory term.
When a netizen pointed out that it was a racist expression, saying, "That kind of language should be canceled," Liam reacted indifferently, stating, "I don't care." In response, netizens expressed their anger, asking, "Don't you know what’s going on?"
Ultimately, Liam Gallagher realized the seriousness of the situation and apologized, saying, "If what I posted in my previous tweet offended anyone because it was unintentional, I'm sorry. I love you all and do not discriminate. Sending peace and love."
Earlier, along with the news of last year's visit, OA expressed excitement for the concert by saying, "South Korea. Our new best friends. Hold on. Oasis is coming.".
However, reactions of disappointment continue as he used the racist term "Chingchong."
