KARD, a mixed group that has been active for nine years, recently offered advice to their junior group, All Day Project, which has just debuted.
On the 30th of last month, an interview was held at a café in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the release of the mini album 'DRIFT' by KARD.
KARD is a four-member mixed group that debuted in December 2016 with the project single 'Oh Na Na,' consisting of BM, J.seph, Jeon So-min, and Jeon Ji-woo. They received enthusiastic love calls from overseas before their official debut and have continued to hold world tours across South America and North America, showcasing their active engagement.
Ahead of KARD's comeback today (Feb. 2), the mixed group All Day Project debuted on the 23rd of last month, continuing the legacy of mixed groups. The feelings of KARD members, who have been active for nine years, must be unique.
In response, Jeon So-min said, "I think it’s really great, and I support them a lot. When I see their debut, I think we have done well and have given a strong image to many people. I think if we weren't here, perhaps mixed groups wouldn’t have emerged, and I believe that a good group has come out because people see us positively."
As for advice to All Day Project, which has just begun its activities as a mixed group, BM said, "What I can say to the male members is that when dealing with women, how you convey your message is more important than what you say." He added, "If you are nice, you will receive nice responses in return."
When laughter erupted at the interview and the question arose about whether there were any conflicts, BM said, "Yes... I think I’ve realized that recently."
In this regard, Jeon Ji-woo noted, "The older members have treated us well, so I don't have many memories of fighting or being angry." BM confessed, "I try to be in tune with myself, and it's so friendly and family-like that sometimes the joking can be quite intense."
When asked how they usually resolve conflicts, the members collectively said, "We tend to resolve them through conversation," and BM added, "I give it a bit of time. By doing that, I end up thinking, 'Was it really that much?' around the time I feel like we're thinking similarly."
Nevertheless, when asked about the advantages of being in a mixed group, BM said, "There are too many advantages," and J.seph added, "I think it's pair choreography. The moments that receive the best reactions during tours and performances are during pair choreography. Mixed groups definitely make a strong impact through pair choreography, which gives a diverse feeling. I believe the variety allows fans to feel dynamic, which is the second advantage."
BM also added, "As a man, I might have a dull side, but it's nice that the younger ones take good care of me," to which Jeon So-min responded, "That's right. That's right. You're reliable." In response to Jeon So-min’s relaxed answer, BM jokingly said, "There’s no soul at all," showcasing their sibling-like chemistry.
Meanwhile, KARD's mini album 'DRIFT' will be released today (Feb. 2) at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites.
