It has been six years since actress Jeon Mi-sun passed away.
Jeon Mi-sun was found dead in a hotel room in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, on June 29, 2019. She was 50 years old.
At the time, Jeon Mi-sun was staying in Jeonju for the play 'Dear Mother' 2 Nights 3 Days. When the 119 emergency rescue team and police arrived at the scene following a report from her manager, she had already passed away.
The agency stated, "She had been receiving treatment for depression, but we are saddened to deliver such heartbreaking news," adding, "Jeon Mi-sun, who always seemed to be by our side in her beautiful form, has become a star in the night sky."
Her passing shocked many beyond the entertainment industry. Especially since she had been actively participating, including attending a production briefing for the film 'The King's Letters' just four days prior, it was hard to believe. At that time, she was also slated to appear in the KBS2 drama 'Chosunroko Nokdijeon.'
Colleagues from the entertainment industry expressed their condolences. Many actors, including Song Kang-ho, Yum Jung-ah, Yeom Jeong-ah, Kim Soo-mi, Park So-dam, Kim So-hyun, Yoon Si-yoon, and Sung Hoon visited the mortuary to accompany her on her last journey. Director Bong Joon-ho and others, including Kwon Hae-sung, Ha Ri-su, and Yoon Hyun-sook, mourned the deceased through social media.
Jeon Mi-sun's good deeds were also brought to light. Her warm heart, which consistently supported and donated through the international relief and development NGO Plan Korea, was known to many. Plan Korea noted, "We will remember the warm touch you showed."
Jeon Mi-sun debuted in 1986 with MBC's 'Bestseller Theater - Is Santa Claus Real?' She later gained public affection for her unparalleled acting skills in numerous works, including the dramas 'Land', 'Baker King Kim Tak-goo', 'Six Flying Dragons', and 'Love in the Moonlight', and films 'Memories of Murder' and 'Mother'. The traces she left behind are deeply etched in the hearts of many even six years later.
