Mukbang YouTuber Banzoo (real name Jung Man-soo) has ultimately decided to delete his YouTube channel. Yoon Hyung-bin, who competed alongside him, suggested, "Let's not go as far as to delete it," but Banzoo remained firm in his resolve to keep his promise.
On the 29th, Banzoo announced through his YouTube channel community, "I will keep my promise. I will upload the final video tomorrow," signaling his farewell to fans. This effectively puts an end to his YouTube activities, which have continued for nearly 10 years. His channel, which has 2.05 million subscribers, has drawn even more attention.
Earlier, on the 28th, Banzoo faced off against Yoon Hyung-bin in an event match held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul. The two drew attention with an unusual wager before the match: "The side that loses will delete their YouTube channel." The result of the match came quicker than expected, as Yoon Hyung-bin's counterpunch landed squarely just 1 minute and 42 seconds into the first round, knocking Banzoo down. The referee immediately stopped the match, and Yoon Hyung-bin was declared the winner by TKO.
Immediately after his victory, Yoon Hyung-bin noted in an interview, "I thought about it, and deleting the channel seems a bit too much," and suggested, "Instead, let's have my videos uploaded on Banzoo's channel." This was an attempt to finish the match without being too harsh on the loser.
However, Banzoo was resolute. He stated, "A promise is a promise," deciding to uphold the pledge he made. Fans are also expressing their mixed feelings of disappointment and support regarding his decision. Reactions such as, "Ultimately, keeping the promise is typical of Banzoo," and "It's really unfortunate, but it was a great ending," have been expressed.
Banzoo has experience training in judo during middle school and has shown strengths in fitness, so an even match was expected. However, Yoon Hyung-bin's seasoned skills from long training were overwhelming. After taking control with a counter, Yoon Hyung-bin ended the match with ground and pound.
Though Banzoo, the mukbang YouTuber who once ruled an era, is leaving the channel, his statement about keeping his promise will linger more vividly in the memories of fans.
