'Squid Game' season 3 topped Netflix in 93 countries just one day after its release.
According to global OTT ranking aggregator FlixPatrol, the Netflix original series 'Squid Game season 3,' released on the 27th, ranked first in the global institutional sector for Netflix TV shows on the 28th (local time).
In particular, 'Squid Game season 3' attracted attention by securing the top position with a total score of 930 points. This is notable because FlixPatrol awards 10 points to each number one position by country, making 'Squid Game season 3' the top show among all 93 countries where Netflix rankings are tabulated. This was a significant gap compared to the second place show, 'Water Front,' which scored 676 points.
'Squid Game season 3' tells the story of Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), who loses his closest friend in a game he re-enters with his own motives, and the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun), who hides his identity while infiltrating the game, as well as the final fates of the participants who survive the brutal games.
'Squid Game' season 1, which debuted in 2021, became Netflix's most popular series of all time. Season 2, released last year, also set record viewership in its opening week and ranked third among Netflix's all-time most popular series. The combined views of 'Squid Game' seasons 1 and 2 reached approximately 600 million.
