Former Big Bang member Choi Seung-hyun (T.O.P) made his long-awaited official public appearance in Korea through the Netflix 'Squid Game 3' finale event.
On the afternoon of the 28th, 'Squid Game 3' finale event was held in the area around Sejong-daero, Seoul. Attendees included director Hwang Dong-hyuk, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, along with Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, Lee Yoo-mi, Yim Siwan, and Kang Ha-neul, all of whom have appeared in seasons 1, 2, and 3, and met with fans.
In particular, on this day, Choi Seung-hyun, who played the washed-up rapper Thanos in 'Squid Game' Season 2, also attended and took the stage. This is the first time Choi Seung-hyun has appeared in an official public event in Korea since the marijuana scandal in 2017.
After being sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation for marijuana use in 2016, Choi Seung-hyun, who had been in self-reflection, resumed his acting activities by joining 'Squid Game' Season 2.
However, amid suspicions of nepotism casting and the emergence of 'likes and dislikes' debates after the release of 'Squid Game Season 2', criticisms surrounding Choi Seung-hyun continued. Subsequently, Choi Seung-hyun was excluded from all promotional activities, including the 'Squid Game Season 2' press conference and global showcase, but later held interviews to clarify various controversies.
However, leading up to the release of 'Squid Game Season 3', Choi Seung-hyun began to participate in promotional activities and attended the domestic event, drawing attention.
On that day, he expressed, "I am grateful to be a part of this great work. I have learned a lot. Once again, I want to thank director Hwang Dong-hyuk and say that he has worked very hard."
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game 3', released on the 27th, depicts Gi-hun, who re-enters the game with his own purpose, the Frontman, who infiltrates the game while concealing his identity, and the final fates of the participants who survived within that brutal system.
