Kang Hyung-wook, bestseller No. 1 → returning to entertainment... “The real coexistence story with dogs begins.”
Dog trainer Kang Hyung-wook, having achieved the No. 1 spot on the bestseller list, is set to reinvigorate his activities with a new entertainment program. His journey back to the public eye with heartfelt writing and programs during quiet times is drawing attention.
Kang Hyung-wook said on his social media in January, expressing a short exclamation of "Oh-oh-oh!" along with a photo of the book sales rankings. His recently published book has topped the daily bestseller list in the "Hobby/Practical/Sports" category of online bookstores. Previously, Kang Hyung-wook shared his publication news with the words, "I wrote a book," and directly explained the heartfelt message contained in the book.
He confessed, "Ten years ago, I wrote a somewhat sharp-titled book saying, 'You should not raise a dog.' At that time, I think I was really annoyed by people who treated dogs poorly," adding, "Now I've become more aware and feeling more. I want to help and guide anyone who sincerely wants to live well with their dogs." He continued, "I am thankful for the dogs that walk with us in the battlefield of our lives," and added, "I hope this book serves as a small help for those who have lived and are living with them."
This warm sincerity is expected to continue in his entertainment activities. In the new Channel A program "Time of Dogs and Wolves," scheduled to air in August, Kang Hyung-wook will look at behavioral problems of dogs not just as basic training issues, but as issues of "relationship," aiming for fundamental solutions between pet owners and their dogs. Straying from conventional pet entertainment formats, the show aims to gather attention as a solution-oriented program addressing behavior correction, owner attitudes, environment, and more.
Meanwhile, Kang Hyung-wook had refrained from activities for a while due to controversies related to Bodum Company last year. At that time, some former employees raised allegations of unauthorized access to corporate messaging and other workplace discrimination, but the police decided not to pursue charges related to the allegations, putting an end to the incident.
There was also controversy regarding the euthanasia of his dog Leo. In this regard, Kang Hyung-wook explained that he had discussed and decided on the euthanasia process over several months, and later, the veterinarian A, who was reported for allegedly violating the Veterinary Medical Act, was also concluded to have "no charges," bringing the controversy to a close.
After going through successive allegations and periods of silence, Kang Hyung-wook is once again focusing on his original work. As a bestselling author and Korea's representative dog behavior expert, many eyes are on his authentic answers in "Time of Dogs and Wolves."
