Actor Cha Tae-hyun opened up about the rumors surrounding him at the beginning of his career. He candidly discussed misunderstandings like being called 'the son of KBS' and 'backdoor debut,' revealing his thoughts during that time.

The KBS CoolFM's 'Park Myung-soo's Radio Show,' aired on the 27th, was produced as a special feature for the 60th anniversary of KBS, titled 'Cool Legend Homecoming Day.' At the event, Cha Tae-hyun, who previously hosted 'Mr. Radio,' appeared as a guest, showcasing his unique cheerful charm.

On this day, Park Myung-soo introduced Cha Tae-hyun as 'the prince of KBS and a member of the elite group,' mentioning, 'His father is from the KBS sound effects team, and his mother is KBS voice actor Choi Soo-min, making him a perfect fit for KBS.' In response, Cha Tae-hyun said, 'I’m not sure about being a prince, but I am indeed a member of the elite,' and smiled.

Cha Tae-hyun made his debut in 1995, at the age of 20, as a silver medalist in the KBS 'Super Talent Selection Contest.' He recalled, 'At that time, I didn’t even know what it was. My brother told me to apply for experience while he was in the military, so I ended up participating by chance, and fortunately, I won an award.' He added that after failing to enter a four-year university, he enrolled in Seoul Arts University and was going through numerous auditions, saying, 'It was a time when I felt good. It seems the momentum was on my side.'

However, it took time for him to build his recognition after his debut. Cha Tae-hyun revealed, 'At first, people didn't really know me, and as things started to go well, I heard a lot of talk that I entered through connections.' He continued, 'Later, there was even a rumor that I was 'the son of teacher Cha In-tae,' which surprised everyone. He remarked, 'That rumor even sounded plausible to me.'

Regarding such misunderstandings, Cha Tae-hyun admitted, 'Honestly, I had nothing to clarify. It was a burden, and there’s a saying, 'an arm bends inward.' He then dismissed the rumors, saying, 'Still, my father couldn’t have intervened.'

In particular, he recalled the time of the Super Talent Contest, stating, 'In the final selection for the talents, both show producers and drama producers were judging together. I felt that the show producers were smiling and selecting me, which caught attention.'

Meanwhile, Cha Tae-hyun is active as an actor possessing long-standing acting skills and keen sense for entertainment, continually maintaining a significant presence both inside and outside the broadcasting industry.
