Ryu Hyun-kyung shared a past story involving Jun Hyun-moo.
In the 35th episode of the MBN entertainment program 'Jun Hyun-moo Project 2' (co-produced by MBN and Channel S) aired on the 27th, Jun Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube (Kwak Jun-bin) explored the 47-year-old 'first cold pork belly restaurant in Hongseong' with Kim Roi-ha, dubbed 'the treasure of Chungmuro,' and Ryu Hyun-kyung.
On that day, Jun Hyun-moo said, "One of today's 'food friends' is a former child actor and a 29-year veteran actor," giving a hint by revealing the initials of their name. A little later, the 'food friend' revealed was actor Kim Roi-ha and Ryu Hyun-kyung. Afterwards, Jun Hyun-moo stated, "When you come to Hongseong, you must eat what you have to eat," and headed to a 'cold pork belly restaurant.' Upon arriving at the shop, Jun Hyun-moo explained, "(In the past) cold pork belly was more popular, as the distribution of pork wasn't good, so we had to eat it frozen. Nowadays, it's good, so we eat fresh pork belly."
Demonstrating his expertise, Ryu Hyun-kyung commented, "Didn't you serve as the MC for 'Wednesday Food Talk'?" but Jun Hyun-moo self-deprecatingly responded, "I was a mess back then," attracting attention. In particular, Kwak Tube exposed, "(At that time) I was severely bullied," to which Jun Hyun-moo admitted, "I was also bullied a lot by Dong-yeob. The bullying, sadness, neglect, and discrimination I received, I have been releasing all of it towards him for four years. Just like what I received," adding to the laughter.
Moreover, Ryu Hyun-kyung commented on her chemistry with Kim Roi-ha, saying, "He is very kind when acting, but when acting, I have to respond, and it makes me say 'I'm sorry.'" Kim Roi-ha also replied, "I've never had action scenes with female actors. So, I'm worried about causing injury, but they're very enthusiastically participating," showcasing their chemistry. Listening to this, Kwak Tube inquired of Jun Hyun-moo and Ryu Hyun-kyung, "Then how was your chemistry when you two did the radio show?" Ryu Hyun-kyung reminisced, "It wasn't for several years, just a few months, but after the radio, he declared he was free right away."
In response, Kwak Tube jokingly asked, "Was there an incident back then? To confess or something?" Ryu Hyun-kyung made a shocking declaration, saying, "Honestly, we almost became family," causing Jun Hyun-moo's eyes to widen. As Jun Hyun-moo remarked, "Let's bury that story," a sense of tension was created, and Ryu Hyun-kyung continued, "I went on a blind date. With my older sister. Because he is just the perfect brother-in-law. Not a husband material," eliciting laughter. Kwak Tube then questioned, "So did it not work out, leading to your declaration of freedom?" Ryu Hyun-kyung replied, "We met once and just didn’t click. My sister got married right after that."
Kim Roi-ha also shared the behind-the-scenes of his debut. Kim Roi-ha stated, "In the past, we grilled meat on a stone plate," sharing his 'eating broadcast skills.' This prompted Kwak Tube to jokingly say, "You seem like someone who would collect stones." Surprisingly, Kim Roi-ha reminisced, "Actually, I graduated from Ceramic Arts. I participated in the drama group while attending the ceramic arts department," reflecting on those times. Regarding what led him to become an actor, Kim Roi-ha shared, "When I was in school, I demonstrated every day. The students were doing something with the lights on in the open-air theater. It was so fascinating. I watched, wondering what they were doing instead of demonstrating, and it turned out to be theater. So, I ended up joining the drama team. I never thought I would become an actor."
He also spoke candidly about his income. He revealed, "After finishing one performance, it usually takes a month. It can take as long as two or three months. Sometimes it’s 30,000 won, other times it’s 10,000 won. In a certain year, the official income didn’t even reach 300. My salary. But even at that time, it was good. There were inconveniences because of the lack of money, but there were other things. I grew more. Rather than romance, it was more like passion. It felt joyous about what I was doing," sharing the driving force behind his acting. Notably, when asked about being considered Bong Joon-ho’s persona, Kim Roi-ha replied, "I don't know about a persona. I think I'm the actor who appeared most in his movies. In his first short film, the second short film, the feature debut, 'Memories of Murder,' and 'The Host.'"
In response, Jun Hyun-moo remarked, "Did we get close and then form a bond through the play 'Come See Me'?" referencing the play adapted from 'Memories of Murder.' Kim Roi-ha said, "He (Director Bong Joon-ho) came to see it. While drinking coffee at a coffee shop, I told him, 'You should make a movie out of this someday.'" When he remarked, "You must have been indebted to Director Bong Joon-ho," Kim Roi-ha humbly responded, "We both did well."
