Singer Lim Young-min has parted ways with his agency after five years since leaving his team due to drunk driving.
On the 26th, the agency Brand New Music announced through an official statement, "We inform you that the exclusive contract with our artist Lim Young-min has ended."
It continued, "After in-depth discussions regarding future activities, we mutually agreed to terminate the exclusive contract with Lim Young-min," and added, "We sincerely appreciate all the interest and love you have shown Lim Young-min over the time."
On the same day, Lim Young-min also shared a handwritten letter via his personal social media, expressing his feelings about the end of his contract with the agency. He stated, "Since I stepped into Brand New Music as a trainee in 2016, nine years have passed, and in 2025, I am starting anew. I sincerely thank the Brand New Music family who walked with me all this time and CEO Rhymer for being a strong support."
He further expressed, "Above all, I sincerely thank the fans who have steadfastly watched over me with unwavering love and support. It was because of your warm hearts that I was able to endure moments and dream. Now, I plan to meet you on a new stage. Though it may feel a little unfamiliar and quite scary, I want to take a brave step forward because there are those who continue to support me."
Lim Young-min concluded by saying, "I hope you will watch over and support my journey with warm eyes in the future. Please be with me. I truly love you, and thank you."
Thus, Lim Young-min's relationship with Brand New Music has come to an end after nine years. It has also been five years since Lim Young-min left the team for drunk driving.
Previously, in 2017, Lim Young-min gained much popularity by appearing as a trainee under Brand New Music on Mnet's "Produce 101" Season 2, and later debuted in 2019 as part of the group AB6IX. However, he left the team the following year after being caught for drunk driving.
After leaving the team, Lim Young-min enlisted that same year and completed his military service, returning to the entertainment industry in 2023 to begin solo activities.
