Stray Kids achieved the highest record for first-week album sales of a K-pop fourth-generation group with their mini album released in Japan, demonstrating their strong local popularity.

Stray Kids released their new mini album 'Hollow' on the 18th in Japan. The album recorded over 610,000 sales in just one day after posting pre-sales on the 17th, achieving half-million selling status. This is Stray Kids' second time recording half-million selling in Japan before the official album release, following their first EP album 'Social Path (feat. LiSA) / Super Bowl -Japanese ver.-' released in September 2023.

The new album topped the Billboard Japan weekly album sales chart, known as the Top Album Sales, with 730,000 sales for the week of June 16-22, 2025, and also entered first place in the latest Oricon weekly album ranking and weekly cumulative album ranking for the same period announced on June 24. With this album, Stray Kids not only broke their own record for first-week album sales but also set a new record for the highest sales among K-pop fourth-generation groups. Notably, only three artists have achieved over half-million sales in their first week of release in Japan this year, with Stray Kids being the first overseas artist to accomplish this.

The music sector also recorded strong performance. It swept the comprehensive album rankings, pop album rankings, and K-pop album rankings on Apple Music and iTunes in Japan, and dominated local major music charts including the Oricon weekly digital album ranking. Furthermore, it topped the comprehensive album ranking on iTunes in 21 overseas regions, including Canada, Brazil, and Indonesia, reaffirming its global popularity.

Stray Kids' 'Hollow,' which is their first mini album in about three years since their mini album 'CIRCUS' released in June 2022, is composed entirely of Japanese original tracks for the first time since their local debut. The group's producing team 3RACHA, consisting of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, participated directly in the production of all the songs, showcasing their capabilities as a 'self-producing group.'

The title track 'Hollow' was named by combining the English word 'Hollow,' which means 'empty,' with the Korean word '홀로,' meaning 'lonely' or 'to be alone.' It captures feelings of sudden emptiness or a sense of being void through intense synth leads, electric guitar, and emotional piano touches. The music video reached number one on YouTube's trending worldwide chart on the day of its release on the 11th, and as of the 25th, it is on the verge of surpassing 10 million views.
