Actress Sunwoo Yongyeo (79) reminisced about her connection with the late Lee Byung-cheol, the founder of Samsung Group, and shared her memories.

On the 25th, a travelogue featuring Sunwoo Yongyeo and actress Jeon Won-ju was released on Sunwoo Yongyeo's YouTube channel, showcasing their trip to the small Japanese city of Yonago. They had dinner at a local ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), and Sunwoo Yongyeo shared a story from the 1970s about her time in Tokyo with Chairman Lee Byung-cheol.

She said, “I received an award from TBC and went to Tokyo in the 1970s. At that time, Chairman Lee Byung-cheol was there (at TBC), and the sushi place was that small, but only the five of us (Sunwoo Yongyeo, Kim Min-ja, Lee Soon-jae, and Lee Nak-hoon) ate there together.” She added, “Do you know how much it cost? It was over 5 million won,” revealing the large amount drew attention.

Sunwoo Yongyeo remarked, “After the meal, Chairman Lee took out a cash gift from his chest and gave it to Teacher Lee Soon-jae for shopping,” and added, “He gave the same amount to the four of us, and I thought, ‘People who earn a lot take out money exactly according to the number of people.’” He also reminisced, “Chairman treated us very well.”

TBC, which was established in 1964, was a broadcasting company under Samsung Group at that time. Sunwoo Yongyeo made her debut in the entertainment industry in 1965 as part of TBC's first batch of dancers. TBC disappeared into history after being absorbed by KBS in 1980 due to media consolidation measures.
