Actor Lee Sang-yi showcased his attachment to his character.
In the July issue of Singles, released on the 26th, Lee showcased a variety of aspects of himself, including the serious demeanor of an actor and the humorous side he shows in entertainment. He is currently passionately portraying the role of 'Kim Jong-hyun,' a former fencing silver medalist and now a sergeant in the Serious Crimes Unit at the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, in the drama Good Boy.
In a follow-up interview, Lee Sang-yi noted that he took part in Good Boy with great care and was happy to complete the project with like-minded colleagues, expressing that he wanted to put his heart into it as much as possible. He also said he hoped viewers would continue to love the work until the end, revealing his affection for the production.
He introduced the character he played, 'Kim Jong-hyun,' by saying, "Although he appears elegant on the outside, he is a figure who struggles fiercely like a swan." To prepare for action sequences based on fencing, he practiced for six months and stated, "I wanted to give the tools a stronger presence than anyone else," mentioning that he incorporated fencing's unique thrusting action using a police baton, showing his attention to even small details and demonstrating his love and passion for the character.
Active in various fields such as drama and entertainment, he is set to return to the theater stage for the first time in two years, playing the lead role of Will Shakespeare in the play Shakespeare in Love, which opens on July 5.
