The group fromis_9 is coming back with new music.
fromis_9 will release their new mini-album 'From Our 20's' at 6 p.m. on the 25th through online music sites and will begin full-scale comeback activities.
'From Our 20's' is an album that candidly captures the various emotions and moments that the members of fromis_9 have faced while living in their 20s. It includes a total of 6 tracks, including the title track 'LIKE YOU BETTER', 'REBELUTIONAL', 'Love=Disaster', 'Strawberry Mimosa', 'Twisted love', and 'Merry Go Round'.
In particular, after recording a career high with the single 'SUPersonic' released in August last year, expectations are rising as they announce the release of a new 'summer song' after about 10 months.
Accordingly, fromis_9 shared their thoughts on the 'From Our 20's' activities.
Below is a Q&A with fromis_9
Q. You’re making your first comeback after transferring to a new company. Do you have any brief thoughts on this?
Song Ha-young: I feel positive about being able to show a new side of myself. I’m doing my best and working hard on everything.
Lee Chae-young: I'm happy to be on stage again as fromis_9. I'm really looking forward to this activity.
Ina Kyung: I’m looking forward to being able to show more diverse music and stages in the future. We are working hard, so please keep an eye on us.
Q. Considering the love received for 'SUPersonIC', it must have been a bit of pressure for this comeback.
Park Ji-won: It would be a lie to say there was no pressure, as this is our first album as five members showing a new beginning. However, I want to enjoy this activity sincerely while trusting the members who have worked hard to prepare.
Baek Ji-heon: Rather than feeling pressure from past results, I generally feel a sense of responsibility whenever an album is released. All the members and staff have poured their sincerity into this. There have been many changes during the hiatus, and I feel a particularly strong desire to reward fans who believed in and waited for us this time.
Q. I heard the mini-album 'From Our 20's' expresses the emotions and moments faced by fromis_9 in their 20s honestly. Can you elaborate on that?
Ina Kyung: We really tried hard to capture our true selves. For example, I love games, so there’s a game console in our jacket photo, and I also shot with my pet dog, Roa. I think the charm of this album is that it reflects these diverse and honest aspects.
Baek Ji-heon: I want to express that it contains diverse moments from being bright, quirky, sometimes thrilling, to feeling exhausted or full of passion? I want to say it's our beautiful 20s that we don't want to forget.
Q. Is there a reason why 'LIKE YOU BETTER' was chosen as the title track? Also, Song Ha-young and Park Ji-won participated in writing and composing the included songs; do you each have a favorite track?
Song Ha-young: 'LIKE YOU BETTER' was selected as the title track because it is a song that can show a more energetic and upgraded side of fromis_9 compared to their previous image. I would choose 'Love=Disaster' as my favorite track. It’s a very exciting song, and I feel like the value of the song goes up when I sing it, so I ask for lot of love.
Park Ji-won: 'LIKE YOU BETTER' maintains the unique color of fromis_9 while containing a more mature and upgraded atmosphere. I believe we can show our energetic stage, which is why I chose it. All the included tracks are precious, but personally, I like 'Love=Disaster' the most. Every time I sing it, I feel excited and energized.
Lee Chae-young: I think 'LIKE YOU BETTER' is the song that captures the energy and charm of all five members. Of course, all the included songs are good, but I like the song 'MERRY GO ROUND' the most. It includes a variety from high to low notes, and rap, and I think it's a genre that fromis_9 is trying for the first time.
Q. With the release of this mini-album, it seems you will have your first world tour. It seems like this year will be busier than ever with the release of a new mini-album and a world tour; what are your thoughts going into these activities?
Park Ji-won: I'm really happy and excited to meet fans from around the world through our first world tour. I felt disappointed not being able to be together until now, but I want to create many memories with this opportunity.
Ina Kyung: It's super exciting to be able to meet fans cheering for us from afar. I'm looking forward to showing more stages and sharing more music.
Q. You are expanding your activities into various fields like acting, producing (writing and composing), and being ambassadors; if there’s a new area you want to challenge, what would it be?
Song Ha-young: I want to focus on the tasks I’m currently handling, like dance, singing, writing, and composing. I feel that if I start to pay attention to other areas, I might neglect what I'm doing now. I really enjoy the work I am focusing on at present.
Lee Chae-young: I want to challenge myself in acting. I'm usually quite sensitive (laughs), so I cry and laugh a lot, and I'm curious about how I would immerse myself in a role. I hope to take on another challenge someday.
Baek Ji-heon: I don’t feel the need to define what field I want to challenge myself in. There’s nothing like the thrill and excitement of being able to do something new, so I want to feel more until I can and try many challenges.
Q. Do you have any words for your fans (Flover) who have been waiting for your comeback?
Song Ha-young: Have fans been waiting a lot? Thank you for waiting. Although we may seem a bit different, I can confidently say that our hearts have been the same from our debut to now. We will work hard to continue to show good and new things. I will be someone who constantly creates reasons for you to like us.
Park Ji-won: To the fans who waited a long time, we are grateful to have you with us at this moment as we start anew as five members; thanks to you, we felt more courageous. I want to create more memories with the fans through this activity. It will be our summer together, so get ready to enjoy it to the fullest.
Lee Chae-young: Fans always tell us that 'we waited well.' I know well the feelings behind those words, so I am always grateful. I want to say that the reason we could come together again is also because of the fans.
Ina Kyung: It might sound playful, but I want fans to know that all the love expressions directed at them are sincere. Let’s meet more often; I really want to see the fans.
Baek Ji-heon: Thank you so much for trusting and waiting for us. Preparing for this album was a time for me to realize how significant the stage, the fans, and the members are to me. We will work hard in this comeback, so please love us a lot.
Meanwhile, fromis_9 will release their new mini-album 'From Our 20's' at 6 p.m. on the 25th through online music sites.
