Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu is under police investigation for violating the Road Traffic Act, and the police have charged him.
According to a report by MBN on the 24th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station is currently conducting a summons investigation against Lee Kyung-kyu for violating the Road Traffic Act.
Earlier, at around 2 p.m. on the 8th, Lee Kyung-kyu drove another person's vehicle of the same model as his own foreign car, moving from a golf practice facility building in Gangnam District, Seoul. It was found that the parking attendant had mistakenly given the wrong vehicle, and Lee Kyung-kyu reportedly felt something was off when he could not find his bag inside the vehicle while driving, prompting him to return to the building.
However, following a report of suspected theft by the vehicle owner, the police dispatched to the scene, and Lee Kyung-kyu was subjected to roadside alcohol and drug screenings. During this process, a positive result was obtained in the drug test, leading to further investigation.
In this regard, Lee Kyung-kyu explained, "The positive result in the police investigation was due to medication I take for panic disorder and cold medicine." He had indeed received prescriptions for cold and flu medication from a pharmacy within the building, and there is a possibility that the ingredients of the panic disorder medication he has been taking for over 10 years affected the drug test.
However, the police maintained that "even if it is a regularly prescribed medication, if it could impair driving ability, it falls under drug-impaired driving according to the Road Traffic Act," and they even made an urgent request for drug analysis to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation.
