Actor Choo Young-Woo has made a perfect transformation into the character Byeokyeonwoo, who possesses the triple talents of gaze, expression, and vocalization.

Choo Young-Woo played the role of Byeokyeonwoo, who is destined to die, in the cable channel tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy" (written by Yang Ji-hoon, directed by Kim Yong-wan), which first aired on the afternoon of the 23rd.

Byeokyeonwoo made a strong first appearance, entering backward into the temple of Park Seong-ah (played by Cho Yi-hyun). The exquisite visuals, which one cannot help but fall in love with at first sight, captivated not only Seong-ah but also the hearts of her classmates. With a striking figure reminiscent of a personal color matching a uniform, he brought back memories of first love.

Born under a bad omen, Byeokyeonwoo was prickly as a porcupine to everyone. He could not even believe Seong-ah's words, which suggested she would save his life. Byeokyeonwoo self-deprecatingly said, "Misfortune is contagious," adding, "Isn't it true that if you believe, you lose money and become unhappy? If you don't believe, you're just unhappy."

Byeokyeonwoo subtly revealed kindness as well. When a grandmother, Ok-soon (played by Gil Hae-yeon), visited the temple, he gently held her hand and comforted Seong-ah, who became the target of ridicule from her classmates. Although he put up a cold facade and tone, a warm and gentle side coexisted beneath.

Especially at the end of the broadcast, when Byeokyeonwoo was possessed by a water ghost, Choo Young-Woo demonstrated his perfect immersion into the character, showcasing even the subtle movements of facial muscles and blood vessels. Byeokyeonwoo firmly drew the line, saying to Seong-ah, who suddenly invaded his boundaries, "It's not being nice; it's being foolish."

In this way, Choo Young-Woo delicately portrayed the complex narrative of Byeokyeonwoo with restrained gazes, expressions, and tones, enhancing the immersion in the drama. Through his deep voice that doesn’t vary much in tone, he once again proved his heavy presence. He expressed the pain Byeokyeonwoo harbored with a calm demeanor even when a signboard fell above his head. Choo Young-Woo demonstrated his acting prowess built up over successive projects, signaling his growth as an actor and raising expectations for his future activities.

"Gyeonwoo and the Fairy," featuring Choo Young-Woo, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m.
