The group BTS has once again proven its global influence in the United States.
On the 23rd (local time), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) granted new certifications to nine songs by BTS. The title track "RUN" from their fourth mini-album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.2," the title track "Blood Sweat & Tears" from their second studio album "WINGS," the title track "DNA" from "LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her,’" and the title track "FAKE LOVE" from "LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’" all received platinum certification, awarded to songs that sell over 1 million units. With this, BTS now holds a total of 13 platinum certifications. They have broken the record for the most RIAA platinum certifications among K-pop artists.
Among the individual works of the members, Jimin's solo debut album "FACE" features the title track "Like Crazy," and Jungkook's solo single "Seven (feat. Latto)" each hold platinum certifications.
BTS received a '5x platinum' certification (over 5 million units sold) from the RIAA last year for the global hit song "Dynamite." Among Korean artists, only BTS and Psy ("Gangnam Style") have songs that have received the '5x platinum' certification.
Following a total of 4 platinum certifications, BTS has also added 5 gold certifications. The songs "Save ME" from the special album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever," the title track "Spring Day" from the extended play "WINGS: You Never Walk Alone," the title track "ON" and the track "Black Swan" from the fourth studio album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7," and the single "Permission to Dance" have received gold certifications for selling over 500,000 units. The total number of gold certifications BTS has now collected has increased to 20.
The RIAA awards certifications based on digital singles and album sales, categorized as gold (over 500,000 units), platinum (over 1 million units), multi-platinum (over 2 million units), and diamond (over 10 million units). Unit counts consider album (physical/digital) sales, digital downloads, and audio and video streaming, assigning weighted values accordingly.
