The character behind the movie 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint,' featuring Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho, has been unveiled.
On the 24th, the team behind the movie 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' (directed by Kim Byung-woo, provided by Lotte Entertainment and Smilegate, distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Realize Pictures, co-produced by MYM Entertainment and Smilegate Realize Present Company, abbreviated as 'Omniscient Reader') released a character commentary video.
'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' is a fantasy action movie where the world within the novel becomes reality on the day the novel, serialized for over 10 years, is completed, and the only reader, 'Kim Reader,' along with the protagonist 'Yu Joong-hyuk' and his companions, strives to survive in a world that has been destroyed. The released character commentary video captures the passion and sincerity of the cast and crew in creating characters with different personalities and charms.
First, Ahn Hyo-seop, who plays the lead role of 'Kim Reader,' expressed, "I wanted to portray an ordinariness that everyone could relate to," noting that he struggled to depict the growth of 'the reader' transitioning from an ordinary office worker to rewriting the ending of the novel with his colleagues.
Director Kim Byung-woo remarked that Ahn Hyo-seop was the optimal casting because "he needs to embody both universality and specificity," and he raised expectations for the reader character that Ahn will portray. 'Kim Reader' is the only reader who read to the end of the long-serialized novel 'Three Ways to Survive in a Destroyed World,' deciding to write a new ending where not just 'Yu Joong-hyuk' survives alone but everyone does together. You can look forward to Ahn Hyo-seop's performance as he perfectly embodies 'Kim Reader,' who grows by breaking the narrative using the knowledge he alone possesses.
Lee Min-ho, who takes on the role of 'Yu Joong-hyuk,' the protagonist of the novel 'Three Ways to Survive in a Destroyed World,' stated, "For the Yu Joong-hyuk character to be realistic, it gives credibility to how the reader and their companions navigate this world. I spent a lot of time considering every action, gaze, and expression," sharing his intense preparation process. 'Yu Joong-hyuk' is an immortal warrior with the ability to return, possessing immense combat strength as he ultimately breaks the final narrative after numerous returns. All eyes are on how the cynical Yu Joong-hyuk, shaped by long periods of returning and dying, will change due to the appearance of 'Kim Reader,' and how Lee Min-ho, transformed into the 'Yu Joong-hyuk' that 'Kim Reader' has long admired, will portray their relationship.
Chae Soo-bin, playing 'Yu Sang-ah,' expressed, "I'm the most realistic character, someone who can be a stepping stone for others." With her unique adorable charm and stable acting, Chae Soo-bin enhances the synergy of the characters. Shin Seung-ho, who plays 'Lee Hyun-sung,' a soldier who strongly supports Kim Reader and protects the comrades, noted, "I invested a lot of thought into my expressions and gestures, as I represent a character who empowers Kim Reader. I believe adrenaline surged as I tried to protect my comrades," explaining how he infused life into the character with overwhelming physicality and delicate expressions. He is set to leave a lasting impression on audiences, balancing powerful action scenes with careful emotional acting.
Nana, as 'Jung Hee-won,' who does not hold back for justice, said, "I'm a character who showcases agile and flashy action skills with a dagger as the primary weapon. The thrill of wire action was significant," vividly sharing her experiences of challenging action scenes. Introducing a new face as an action heroine, Nana is expected to capture the audience's attention at once. Ji Soo, transformed into 'Lee Ji-hye,' a high school student who quickly grasps situations while following 'Yu Joong-hyuk' as her master, expressed, "We talked a lot about how the character 'Ji-hye' has lived. I wanted to show that she is someone who successfully navigates various situations," showcasing her great passion for the character as she collaborates with the director to create Ji-hye's hidden narrative. Kwon Eun-sung, who plays 'Lee Gil-young,' a boy with the ability to communicate with insects, remarked, "With the help of the reader, I survive and clear the scenario together. The skills Gil-young uses allow him to communicate with insects," conveying his vibrant presence with a touch of humor.
Director Kim Byung-woo stated, "The basic context of the story is about ordinary people living their daily lives encountering each other and solving problems," revealing that the characters, united to rewrite a new ending where everyone survives, will unfold a dynamic and spectacular story.
'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on July 23.
