Hwang Hye-young has decided to close the shopping mall she has operated for 18 years.
On the 24th, a video titled 'I'm quitting the shopping mall I have operated for 18 years' was posted on her YouTube channel 'This is Hwang Hye-young.'
On that day, Hwang Hye-young said, 'I am planning to close the shopping mall I have operated for 18 years' and added, 'I wasn't sure if I could do it with the same passion as before. As my children keep growing, I felt inadequate as a working mom and wanted to focus more on my kids,' sharing her honest thoughts.
She continued, 'I am also physically exhausted. I think I have overworked myself. Now, I want to have time for myself,' expressing her desire for rest.
Hwang Hye-young recalled, 'During the time when I was on a break from broadcasting, I thought it didn't suit me, so I stayed at home for several years.' She said, 'At that time, while wondering what I could do besides broadcasting, I started the shopping mall as a side project.'
'The shopping mall is like a child to me,' she said, and she peaked with an annual sales of 10 billion won and a daily maximum sales of 400 million won. However, there were also times when sales plummeted due to pregnancy and hospitalizations. She reflected, 'I paid the employees' salaries out of my own pocket for two years,' looking back on those trying times.
Additionally, Hwang Hye-young noted that 'there was a moment every day when I wanted to quit,' and ultimately made the decision to 'close' after 18 years. At the end of the video, she said, 'I have worked so hard. Now, I need time to take care of myself,' marking the end of a long journey.
Meanwhile, after marrying her husband Kim Kyung-rok, a former politician, Hwang Hye-young achieved annual sales of 10 billion won as a CEO of an online shopping mall for 18 years and also gave birth to twins, marking her success as a businesswoman.
