Actor Kim Woo-bin, who was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and announced his recovery, received thanks from singer Yoon Do-hyun and actor Jin Tae-hyun. He is becoming a symbol of hope for cancer patients.
On the 24th, Jin Tae-hyun shared an update on his surgery through his personal account, stating, "I successfully completed the surgery around 11 a.m. on June 24, 2025. After the surgery, the professor personally came to the recovery room, held my hand, and said not to worry anymore. Thanks to everyone who worried, the cancer cells in my body have now disappeared. Thank you. I will not forget your support and prayers," he said.
Jin Tae-hyun previously announced he would undergo surgery after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer during a health checkup in April. He has now shared an update after undergoing surgery.
On that day, Jin Tae-hyun reflected on the past few months of living with the word 'cancer,' regardless of its size or severity, and expressed gratitude for the lessons he learned about how to live forward. He said, "It was a cancer that could be cured with surgery, but what if the situation were different? I want to tell everyone fighting cancer nationwide that I will always be with you in prayer or through various means of sharing. Stay strong."
Before his surgery, Jin Tae-hyun mentioned those he was grateful for, capturing attention with a mention of his junior actor Kim Woo-bin. He said, "Mr. Woo-bin has never reached out to me, but I appreciate him for his generous support to overcome the illness. I will treasure the heart of sharing that you have shown and strive to be a good senior in the entertainment industry. Let's continue to support each other's activities and live well together."
Kim Woo-bin also had a long hiatus due to his battle with cancer. Diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in May 2017, he achieved recovery in 2019 after more than two years of fighting the disease. He made a formal comeback at a film awards ceremony after a break of 2 years and 6 months, successfully returning as an actor through the film 'Alien + People' and the drama 'Our Blues.'
Kim Woo-bin appeared on 'Yoo Quiz' and shared a message of support for those battling cancer, saying, "I don't fully know how painful and terrifying it is for those currently fighting illness, but I believe I understand it somewhat as I have experienced it myself. It's not that we did something wrong to deserve this; we were just unlucky. Please don't spend your time regretting or blaming yourselves, but instead think of yourselves and your loved ones, and stay strong. I will hold onto the support and prayers I received and earnestly pray that more miracles can happen in many homes today," he noted.
Yoon Do-hyun also confessed to his cancer battle after seeing Kim Woo-bin. In 2023, he announced he was fighting Waldenström macroglobulinemia, a rare cancer, and during an entertainment show, he shared, "There are no cancer cells currently. I believe I will have to continue monitoring it. I don't know when it might relapse," but he added, "In the doctor's office, there was a picture of actor Kim Woo-bin. The doctor said that Kim Woo-bin received treatment and hoped that once he got rid of all the cancer cells, he would bring hope to cancer patients. A single photo gives a lot of strength," he mentioned regarding his own battle.
Yoon Do-hyun said, "So I posted about it on social media, and I received a huge amount of comments. There were many cancer patients or families with cancer patients. I was just diligently treating my illness but ended up becoming a source of hope, for which I was grateful."
Following Yoon Do-hyun, Jin Tae-hyun also mentioned actor Kim Woo-bin, indicating that he gained hope from him. Kim Woo-bin is now emerging as a signature star of cancer recovery.
