Actor Choo Young-Woo aimed his bow at a target that read 'youth romance.'
Choo Young-Woo plays the role of Bae Gyeon-Woo in the new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy" (written by Yang Ji-hoon, directed by Kim Yong-wan), which premieres today (23rd) at 8:50 p.m.
"Gyeonwoo and the Fairy" is an unrestrained first love rescue romance of eighteen youth, featuring a boy destined to die and a shaman girl from the MZ generation trying to stop it. The story of Bae Gyeon-Woo, a high school student shaman who defies destiny for first love, and the ordinary happiness that she opens for him is expected to deliver fresh excitement to viewers this summer.
Choo Young-Woo challenges youth romance through "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy." In the story, the boy and girl are each other's salvation and mutual first loves. Particularly, Choo Young-Woo is reuniting with Cho Yi-hyun for the first time in about four years since the 2021 broadcast of "School 2021." Interest is focused on the perfect chemistry that the two actors, who have grown as performers, will showcase.
The character played by Choo Young-Woo, Bae Gyeon-Woo, is set as a promising archer. Archery is the only escape that makes Bae Gyeon-Woo feel alive amid his unfortunate daily life. He always has a wary look on his cold face, but hidden within is a gentle and warm side.
At a press conference held before the premiere of "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy," Choo Young-Woo said, "Bae Gyeon-Woo is a child born with a fatal destiny. He hates to harm those around him, so he builds thorns against others and lives with his own boundaries, like a hedgehog. There are aspects of Bae Gyeon-Woo's character that resonate with me among the various sides I have. Therefore, there was no reason not to do it. As the story progresses to the latter half of the drama, the character undergoes extreme changes, so please look forward to that part."
In this way, Choo Young-Woo has shown different faces in three works released this year, and with "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy," he aims for consecutive hits while challenging youth romance. Proving his wide spectrum through his acting, Choo Young-Woo continues his momentum as a rising actor, and attention is focused on the performance he will showcase in "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy."
