Actor Kim Jin-young will officially make his acting debut with the drama "I Shopping."
The new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama "I Shopping" (directed by Oh Gi-hwan, written by Ahn So-jung, produced by Group Eight and Take One Studio) will first air on July 21 at 10 p.m. It is an action thriller depicting the desperate survival and revenge of children who narrowly survived after being abandoned by their adoptive parents. The drama, based on a Kakao webtoon that won the "Best Creativity Award" at the 2017 International Content Market SPP and accumulated over 51 million views, has been highly anticipated even before its broadcast.
Kim Jin-young, a versatile all-rounder challenging acting beyond entertainment, plays the role of Jung Hyun, a human weapon raised in the dark by Kim Se-hee (played by Yum Jung-ah) and the actual operator of an illegal adoption trafficking organization. Jung Hyun is a cold character who obeys Se-hee's orders without question, enhancing the tension of the drama and leaving a strong impression on viewers.
Today (the 23rd), the first still of Kim Jin-young, offering a glimpse of the Jung Hyun character, was revealed. In the released still, Kim Jin-young emits an unusual presence as he gazes somewhere with intense eyes. Notably, his appearance carrying out orders in the dark reflects a relentless and cold determination, exemplifying the characteristics of a "human weapon" by thoroughly controlling his emotions to fulfill orders.
Jung Hyun is a character who follows only orders while excluding emotions, and he is expected to play a pivotal role in the drama through agile action and restrained emotional lines. Kim Jin-young has reportedly completed a solid acting ensemble with his high-density acting chemistry with the other actors, reliably handling both action and the character's emotional lines.
The production team noted, "Actor Kim Jin-young fully immersed himself in the character Jung Hyun and showcased remarkable focus. His strong presence will provide viewers with fresh energy and unique enjoyment, so please look forward to it."
Meanwhile, "I Shopping," the new work from ENA that has been rewriting box office records with dramas like "New Recruit" and "Tastefully Yours" airing in 2025, is drawing anticipation. It is produced jointly by Group Eight, a production company that has successfully brought dramas based on original works like "Daily Love," the "Taxi Driver" series, "My ID is Gangnam Beauty," and "Boys Over Flowers," and Take One Studio, which produced "Your Honor" and "Luca: The Beginning."
The new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama "I Shopping" will first air on July 21, Monday, at 10 p.m. and will also be available exclusively on the OTT platform TVING.
