The actress Chae Seo-an, who has passionately portrayed "Mrs. Hak" in the drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines," visited the July issue of Cosmopolitan. What if the "Mrs. Hak" who was not loved by the "Mr. Hak" in the drama could return to that time and embrace her prime? The retro mood photoshoot, which started from this idea, was sufficient to find Chae Seo-an's hidden charm. Chae Seo-an smiled, saying, "I thought the concept was really fun after receiving the brief. I was worried about whether I could pull it off, though."
I asked how she has been since the drama ended. "It feels like the time that had stopped is flowing again. Many people around me have started to recognize me, and it made me happy to see my friends who are more delighted than I am." She also reminisced about the moment she was cast in "When Life Gives You Tangerines." "The most common phrase I said while acting was 'I don’t appear much.' Since I received many questions about what projects I was working on, I often ended my response with, 'I'm going into this and that project, but I don’t appear much.' So when I received the casting offer, I didn't have high expectations. After filming for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' was completed, I thought again about pursuing a path other than acting during my break." She continued, "During the time when I didn't have a schedule, I felt like I was falling behind and becoming lazier, so I tried to keep moving my body to pass the time. (Doing various part-time jobs) certainly had a purpose of making money," she recalled, steadfastly going out to do part-time jobs despite concerns from those around her.
Meanwhile, what does Chae Seo-an consider most important when reviewing a script ahead of her next project? "I think it’s important to look at the genre, the relationships between the characters, and, above all, whether it’s interesting. I also try to visualize what the vibe will be like once it’s turned into a video." She added, "I really enjoy lively comedy genres like 'White Chicks.' Among Korean works, there’s a movie called '30 Days' starring Kang Ha-neul and Jung So-min, which I found really entertaining. I replayed it several times, thinking, 'How would I act in this?'"
I also asked Chae Seo-an which season she resembles right now. "Spring. It feels like a bud preparing to grow again after winter has passed. Although another winter will come after this season, I can just go through the season then. I’ve just started budding, so I will nurture it well!" she smiled.
