Former Laboum member Yulhee showed a strong side in 'You Have to Run.'
The last full marathon challenge took place in the MBN entertainment show 'You Have to Run' that ended on the 21st. Starting with a 5 km marathon, followed by a 10 km and then a 21 km half marathon, those who completed them gained confidence. Their three-month journey was difficult but fulfilling, as they practiced in between and reached their goal.
Finally, the true record of the marathon, the '42.195 km' challenge, was depicted. Lee Yong-pyo said, 'You started from 5 km to 10 km and then 21 km (half), right? Now, it's finally the full course,' surprising the participants.
Yulhee expressed concern, saying, 'It's a really distant and far number; I wonder if I can run it?' Choi Jun-seok shook his head, saying, 'I don’t know. Is it really running the full course, 42.195 km?'
Runner Kwon Eun-joo said, 'Since it's literally a full course, I will receive your support,' and a total of 12 participants appeared. Bae Seong-jin praised them, stating, 'I’ve always lived by the spirit of face-to-face, but I’ve never seen that you can just run. It’s amazing.'
Yulhee, who runs lightly and swiftly, naturally expressed her intention to participate. She said, 'I have a promise I made to myself. I want to keep it.'
Additionally, Kim Seung-jin stated, 'I was 89 kg when I started, but now I’m 79 kg. Now I don’t gain weight even if I eat. My goal is to finish the race,' while Lee Jang-jun said, 'We have to take on challenges. I couldn't even dream of it when I first started, but after running the half, I have confidence,' and Han Sang-bo noted, 'There’s an irresistible charm. Since I ran the half, I thought, let’s run the full course too,' demonstrating the competitive spirit among the runners.
In the APT. marathon corner, running the marathon required understanding the corner first. Additionally, running on asphalt in the scorching summer sun was beyond words. Participants began to become fatigued before reaching the half. Yulhee could not escape that either.
Kwon Eun-joo expressed concern, saying, 'If the course had a turnaround point, there would at least be a goal to reach, but since this one keeps going around, it will be tiring.' It was not an easy journey even for Yulhee, known as a tough one. She recalled, 'It was really hard to get over the first hurdle.'
There was a voice that awakened Yulhee. It was her mother and brother. Her brother cheered, saying, 'I’ve seen you running until now, and you can run, sister.' Yulhee could not afford to tire out. As she was gasping for breath, with just one more lap left, Han Sang-bo, a specialist in hair loss, who had already come in second, volunteered to be her pace maker and started to gather strength for the last stretch with her.
Han Sang-bo encouraged Yulhee, saying, 'Yulhee is the best! As long as you finish slowly, that’s all that matters,' and 'You are amazing. I am nothing.' Finally, Yulhee finished the race in 5 hours 27 minutes and 10 seconds, earning two medals.
