The Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Professional Baseball League have secured the top spot alone for the first time in 33 years since their predecessor Binggrae in 1992.
Hanwha won against LG 10-5 in a home game of the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League held on the 15th at Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon, pushing LG to second place by half a game.
It has been 33 years since Hanwha has risen to the sole lead after playing more than 60 games since the Binggrae era in 1992. Hanwha has since maintained the top spot for over a week.
As Hanwha ascends to the top spot, representatives of the entertainment industry, dubbed 'Hanwha's true fans', are starting to react. First, actor Jo In-sung posted the 2025 KBO League standings on his personal social media without any comments, showing that Hanwha is in first place. This reveals how much affection Jo In-sung has for the Hanwha Eagles.
Additionally, actor Park Jeong-min, who supports the Hanwha Eagles, took the stage at the 2025 Seoul International Book Fair on the 21st and, when asked about the joys of daily life, said, "I feel like I’m in a ruined sabbatical. Many people worry, but I’m fine health-wise. Mentally, I sometimes feel drained, but these days I get home at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. Enjoying a chicken while watching the Hanwha Eagles game helps me unwind."
Park Jeong-min added, "I think I can say that I'm spending very happy days," expressing, "I’m very grateful to the Hanwha Eagles."
In addition, Girls' Generation's Yuri shared a moment watching Hanwha Eagles' 12-game winning streak, adding the comments, "Hanwha's victory at Gocheok Sky Dome" and "12-game winning streak." Kang Jae-jun was also seen attending the game in Daejeon with his wife Lee Eun-hye and son Hyun-jo. Actor Kim Gi-cheon expressed his joy with the concise remark, "Top of the standings."
