Singer and songwriter Yoon Jong-shin has opened up about the return of his Crohn's disease pain, revealing his long battle with the illness, which has prompted an outpouring of support from fans.
Yoon Jong-shin noted on his social media on the 21st, 'It's been a while since Crohn's pain has returned. I couldn't even eat with my golfing companions and just left. Please don't misunderstand,' adding, 'Crohn's always comes like this. You found me over 30 years ago, when I didn't even know your name, Crohn. Now, it's like a friend. A troublesome one.'
In response to his confession, fans have left warm messages such as, 'Don't get tired and stay strong,' 'Even with a 30-year friend, distance yourself when needed,' and 'I can feel your sincerity, Jong-shin.'
Yoon Jong-shin previously revealed on a broadcast that he has suffered from Crohn's disease for a long time. He recalled, 'I actually experienced unexplained abdominal pain and diarrhea since middle school, but I learned the name of the disease in my late 30s.'
He continued, 'I was diagnosed in 2006 and underwent surgery. I had 60 cm of my small intestine removed, and there were inflammations in three places,' and confessed, 'The thin body I had in the '90s was all because of this disease.' However, he also conveyed a message of hope, stating, 'If well-managed, my lifespan can be the same as that of a normal person.'
Yoon Jong-shin's wife, Jeon Mi-ra, a former national tennis representative, also appeared on MBC's documentary series 'Human Documentary: People Like This' in 2015, stating, 'My husband still experiences bloody stool due to Crohn's disease,' and added, 'It's not a terminal illness, and he tells me we can overcome it together. Since I have a bright energy, I encourage him to keep going,' while getting teary-eyed.
In addition to Yoon Jong-shin, trot singer Young-gi has also revealed his battle with Crohn's disease, helping to raise public awareness of rare diseases.
Yoon Jong-shin, who has consistently reflected on himself and comforted others, is providing great solace to those enduring similar pains through his confession, which transcends a mere record of suffering.
