Supermodel Kate Upton (33) and Major League Baseball star Justin Verlander (42) have welcomed their second child.
Upton's spokesperson noted on the 19th (local time) to TMZ that Upton gave birth to son Bellamy Brooks Verlander. Upon hearing this happy news, Verlander immediately took parental leave to be by his wife's side and with the newborn child.
Verlander was recently excluded from the Friday game by his current team, the San Francisco Giants, and is spending special time with his family.
This couple became parents when they had their first daughter Genevieve 'Bibi' Upton Verlander in Nov. 2018. They first met on the set of a Major League Baseball game advertisement shoot in 2012 and tied the knot in 2017. At that time, Verlander showcased his talent by leading the Houston Astros to their first World Series championship in franchise history just days before the wedding.
Upton has been supporting her husband throughout his baseball career, visiting baseball stadiums across the country and cheering sincerely for every pitch he throws.
In 2022, Upton watched the Astros' victory in the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees from the field, and she candidly shared through a podcast, "Being the wife of a baseball player is really crazy. I had no idea there were so many games."
Verlander debuted in 2005 with the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed his prime with the Astros in 2017 before moving to the New York Mets; he is currently continuing his career with the Giants as his fourth team. As of the 2025 season, he holds an earned run average of 4.45 and has recorded 47 Samjin.
Major League Baseball guarantees players parental leave for up to three games, and for additional absences, adjustments can be made through 'family medical leave' or 'restricted list.' Verlander's possible return date is for the upcoming home game against the Miami Marlins on the 25th.
