BTS member Suga greeted fans after returning to society following his discharge from military service.
Suga began his alternative service as a social service worker in September 2023, completing 21 months of duty before being discharged on the 21st, fulfilling his defense obligations.
Earlier, Jin and J-Hope were discharged last year, and on the 10th, RM and V and on the 11th, Jimin and Jungkook announced their discharge, with Suga also returning, signaling the beginning of a full comeback for BTS.
On this day, Suga captured attention by leaving a lengthy message for fans to commemorate his discharge. He stated on the fan community Weverse, "As of today, I have been discharged, so I am greeting you after a long time. It is a day I have been waiting for, and since it has been a really long time, I have been thinking a lot about how to greet you. Above all, I want to sincerely thank all the fans who have waited for me during this time. I really missed you."
He reflected on his time during the past two years of service, explaining, "Especially, I had the feeling that I should take a step back from the tasks I’ve been doing for a long time. I had been running ahead without looking back at myself, but this time provided an opportunity for me to reflect on myself again."
Suga also addressed the controversy surrounding his drunk driving incident with an electric scooter last year. He said, "I am sorry for disappointing you and causing concern with what happened last year. Most of all, I was very upset that I hurt the feelings of the fans. I also felt sorry for the members who may have felt heavy-hearted in their respective places because of me."
Lastly, he added, "I will work hard to repay the love you have given me even more. I love you. I will keep in touch with you from time to time."
Earlier, BTS drew attention by making a public appearance at J-Hope's encore concert for his world tour on the 13th. Jin and Jungkook made a surprise appearance as guests, while V, RM, Jimin, and Suga were captured in the audience enjoying the performance, greeting the fans.
