Singer and actor IU visited the "When Life Gives You Tangerines" art exhibition and presented gifts. IU gave luxurious Hermes scarves to Jeju halmang (grandmothers), adding meaning and delivering a touching experience.
On the 19th, Social Museum's social media revealed a number of photographs of IU attending the exhibition along with a post stating, "Aesoon has returned to Jeju. She said she came to keep a promise as the character Kwangrye Ttol. The Seonheul painting studio is a hangout for halmang, whose average age is 87, now turned from farmers to artists. Although Aesoon planned to quietly view the exhibition, she appeared like Santa, carrying a bundle of gifts. Halmang Urachaha (96) joyfully welcomed her with a hug, saying, 'Aesoon has come!'"
In the released photos, IU sought to meet with the Jeju halmang (grandmothers) despite her busy schedule at the exhibition. The exhibition organizers reported that "while adhering to the entrance rules of the Seonheul painting studio, she wore white gloves on one hand, carefully selected a companion painting bag, and hung it over her shoulder."
In particular, the exhibition team stated that IU opened her arms and hugged the halmang as an act of solidarity, which is interpreted as keeping a promise and restoring bonds. Furthermore, they conveyed that IU laid silk fabric (scarf) in front of the painting halmang and personally draped the magical cloak over their shoulders.
The scarf that IU personally prepared for the halmang has drawn attention as it is known to be a luxurious Hermes scarf. IU exhibited a friendly atmosphere by personally tying the scarves on the grandmothers, resembling a daughter or granddaughter.
Meanwhile, IU delivered an outstanding performance as the character Oh Aesoon in the Netflix drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines," which was released in March. She is set to appear in a new drama titled "21st Century Great Lady" scheduled to air next year.
