The voting for the 20th Seoul Drama Awards ‘Asia Star Award’ and ‘OST Award’, which selects winners solely by global Hallyu fans, has commenced.
The Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee (Chairperson Bang Moon-sin) and TNK Factory announced that voting for the Seoul Drama Awards 2025 Asia Star Award (Korea, China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines) and K-Drama OST Award will take place through the voting platform ‘Idol Champ’ from June 21 to July 20. ‘Idol Champ’ is a voting app with users from 234 countries and regions, and the winners for this year will be decided based on their voting results.
The Asia Star Award targets actors who have excelled over the past year, and it is expected to be a fierce competition featuring popular stars representing each country. Nominees from Korea include IU, Park Bo-gum, Lee Jun-young from ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’, Lim Ji-yeon and Choo Young-woo from ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’, Park Eun-bin from ‘Hyper Knife’, Lee Hye-ri from ‘Friendly Rivalry’, Jisoo from ‘Newtopia’, Park Shin-hye from ‘The Judge from Hell’, Han Ji-min and Lee Jun-hyuk from ‘Love Scout’, Kim Seon-ho from ‘The Tyrant’, Seo Kang-jun from ‘Undercover High School’, and Heo Nam-jun from ‘Your Honor’, all of whom are representatives of this year’s K-Dramas.
Candidates from other Asian countries are also noteworthy. Kenta Sakaguchi, who has a broad fanbase with popular works such as ‘Beyond Goodbye’, Daniel Padilla, known as a box office guarantee from the Philippines, Bai Yu, who gained stardom with impressive bromance in the Chinese drama ‘Guardian’, Namtan Tipnaree, who played dual roles in the Thai drama ‘Pluto’, and Aenie Wong from Malaysia are competing for the award.
For the OST Award, voting will take place based on submissions from the K-Drama sector. Nominees include IU (‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ OST), PLAVE (‘Dear Hyeri’ OST), aespa’s Winter (‘The Tale of Lady Ok’ OST), NCT’s Do-young (‘Namib’ OST), Youngtak (‘For Eagle Brothers’ OST), LUCY (‘Undercover High School’, ‘Parole Examiner Lee’, ‘Seoul Busters’ OST), and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (‘Brewing Love’ OST), drawing attention to who will seize the trophy.
The full nominees for each institutional sector can be checked through the ‘Idol Champ’ app on the 21st, and a reward event will also be held, offering ticket access to the awards ceremony on October 2 at KBS Hall and Idol Champ Champions to fans who participated in the voting.
