It has been 14 years since Lee Eun-mi, a member of the female trot group Iris, was killed by her boyfriend's knife. The incident shocked the nation, as it was a murder carried out out of resentment over a breakup notification. That moment is still vivid.

Lee Eun-mi died in the early morning of June 19, 2011, after being stabbed by her ex-boyfriend with a knife. She was 25 years old.

At the time, the police said, "Lee Eun-mi's ex-boyfriend, Mr. A, stabbed her multiple times in the neck and abdomen with a knife while she was on her way home." The police secured witness statements and tips from people in the area and apprehended Mr. A at a highway rest area the next day.

Mr. A revealed that the motive for the murder was his resentment toward Lee Eun-mi for notifying him of their breakup after they had promised to marry. Later, a CCTV clip showing Lee Eun-mi being dragged out by Mr. A just before her death was released, amplifying the sorrow, and Mr. A was sentenced to 20 years in prison but had his sentence reduced to 17 years on appeal.

At that time, the court explained, "We considered that he admitted to the crime, deeply regretted his actions, and made efforts to somewhat compensate the victims' families by posting 10 million won as security."

Lee Eun-mi rose to fame in 2000 by winning the grand prize on the iTV music contest program "Battle! King of Singers." She debuted in 2005 as a member of the female trot group Iris and actively released her first album, "Message of Love." However, Iris eventually disbanded due to Lee Eun-mi's death.
