'Aquaman' star Jason Momoa's 16-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf has been cast in the film 'Dune 3.'
U.S. entertainment media Deadline reported on the 19th (local time) that 'Nakoa-Wolf, son of Jason Momoa, will play Leto II, one of the twin children of Timothy Chalamet (Paul Atreides) and Zendaya (Chani) in 'Dune 3.' Leto II is a character that plays a key role in the original novel and essentially marks the beginning of the 'next protagonist.'
Nakoa-Wolf will begin his acting career with this 'Dune' series, while his twin sister will be portrayed by child actress Aida Brook, who has gained recognition for her minor roles, including in the Apple TV+ drama 'Shanty.'
As a result, 'Dune 3' is expected to focus on the next generation of the Fremen and the Atreides. It will be based on Frank Herbert's novel 'Dune: Messiah,' covering 12 years after the previous film.
Jason Momoa will also rejoin the franchise. He is set to appear again as Duncan Idaho, a character who died in the first film but will return as a clone. Director Denis Villeneuve will also direct the third installment, with Robert Pattinson rumored to take on the next villain role, heightening expectations.
Meanwhile, 'Dune: Part 1' earned $410 million worldwide, and 'Dune: Part 2' grossed over $710 million, marking box office success. 'Dune 3' aims for a release in December 2026 and is set to begin full-scale filming next month.
