The global IP content studio EOCON was once again proving its capabilities in sourcing original IP and visualizing it.
The Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang' (directed by Kim Hong-seon, written by Kim Jin-a, produced by Studio Dragon, Ace Maker, H House, co-produced by EOCON) has received a strong response, ranking 3rd in Netflix's global non-English TV institutional sector weekly TOP10 after its release on May 23. Additionally, the drama 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' (directed by Kim Yong-wan, written by Yang Ji-hoon, planned by CJ ENM, produced by Studio Dragon, DEXTER, EOCON), which is set to premiere on June 23, is also garnering significant attention both domestically and internationally even before its release.
At the center of these two works is the global IP content studio EOCON. EOCON is attracting industry attention by successfully discovering appealing original works and visualizing them based on its 'capability that encompasses the entire IP lifecycle from planning to production.'
Previously, EOCON demonstrated its planning capabilities through major hits like 'Night Has Fallen' (produced by EOCON, STUDIO X+U), which ranked first in Netflix Korea's drama sector in 2023, and 'Love Scout' (directed by Ham Jun-ho, Kim Jae-hong, written by Ji Eun, produced by Studio S, EOCON), which recorded a peak rating of 14.2% and was called a 'syndrome.'
EOCON, which is receiving high praise through 'Dear Hongrang' and 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy,' was offered a proposal for visualizing the novel 'Dear Hongrang' from the publisher one week before its publication on February 19, 2021. CEO Oh Eun-young noted, 'I was convinced that the mystery surrounding the lost sibling Hongrang and the fateful love of three individuals were optimized IP for drama, and I created a drama planning proposal and suggested it for adaptation to renowned partners in the industry,' expressing deep gratitude to the production team, actors, and partners who recognized its potential.
'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' is a work that EOCON completed a visualization contract for shortly after picking it up in 2019 while developing a proposal with a rookie webtoon artist at a webtoon production company, officially launching it on Naver Webtoon in 2020.
Regarding the concept of a high school shaman who lives to serve great gods and directly saves her fated male student whom she falls in love with at first sight, CEO Oh stated, 'I was certain that the four clear charm points — the mysterious concept of a shaman, the combination of high teen romance and genre works, mystical oriental shamanism, and fateful love — could gain popularity in the global market.' Particularly, it combined DEXTER's Asia's best-level VFX technology, the company behind 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy,' to enhance the work's completeness. The chemistry that the two leads, Choo Young-Woo and Cho Yi-hyun, both of whom are garnering great attention in 2025 for their versatile charms, are expected to show is already receiving interest from both domestic and international audiences.
In addition to 'Dear Hongrang' and 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy,' EOCON picked up the novel 'Flower of Death' before its publication in May 2022 and began script development for its drama adaptation. This year, EOCON achieved the remarkable feat of winning first place in the 'Korea Creative Content Agency's broadcasting and video content planning proposal competition,' among 247 submissions, and started production. Additionally, it is in the process of adapting the webtoon 'White XX,' which has earned great love as a super IP on Naver Webtoon, and the web novel 'When Light Breaks,' which won the grand prize in the KT web novel competition.
CEO Oh Eun-young emphasized, 'The strength of EOCON lies not only in rapidly securing IPs but also in proving the ability to launch works by emerging and rookie creators into the global market.' She expressed aspirations to focus more on discovering original IP that is based on pure creation, and can succeed in the global market.
