Singer Jo Hak-nyeon, who was expelled from the group The Boyz, has found himself in a dire situation as suspicions of prostitution surrounding his posted apology have led to claims that it was ghostwritten.
On the 19th, Jo Hak-nyeon posted a handwritten apology on his personal account, stating, "First of all, I apologize to the fans who were greatly surprised by the articles about me, and to everyone for causing concern with this unfortunate incident."
On that day, Jo Hak-nyeon said, "In the early morning of May 30, 2025, I attended a drinking gathering with acquaintances, and while it is true that I was present, I have never engaged in any prostitution or any illegal activities as mentioned in the articles or rumors," and added, "I deeply reflect on my actions and sincerely want to apologize to those who were surprised."
Jo Hak-nyeon directly refuted the prostitution allegations, but fans have shown an indifferent attitude. They pointed out that the handwritten apology awkwardly separated the phrases "dear fans" and "concern," raising suspicions by asking, "Did someone send this text via KakaoTalk?"
Some netizens supported him, saying, "It could be that he transcribed what he wrote himself," but another netizen expressed doubt, stating, "If he personally wrote the apology, he wouldn't have intentionally separated the '심' and '려' parts. It's the first time I've seen line breaks in an apology letter."
Furthermore, if the prostitution allegations against Jo Hak-nyeon are false, they questioned what grounds there were to expel him from the team and terminate the exclusive contract with the agency simply for having had a drinking gathering with an AV actress.
Meanwhile, Jo Hak-nyeon, who recently suspended his activities due to personal circumstances, left the team after it became known that he had a private meeting with former Japanese AV actress Asuka Kirara, prompting his agency, One Hundred, to immediately announce the termination of his contract.
Chairman Cha made a statement through the apology letter, saying, "I sincerely apologize on behalf of the company for causing deep concern to the fans and the public due to several situations involving our artists and members."
Chairman Cha stated, "One Hundred humbly accepts that it has been insufficient in managing the private lives and attitudes of our artists and members. Through this matter, we recognize our responsibility gravely and reflect deeply," and promised, "We will strengthen the management system regarding artists' private lives and overall attitudes, and strive for education to enhance our ethical awareness and improve our internal systems."
