On 'Radio Star,' singer Go Woo-rim and Lee Jung revealed the side of 'love-crazy' husbands.
The MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star' (abbreviated as RAS), aired on the 18th, featured Kim Tae-kyun, Cheon Rok-dam (Lee Jung), Lee Dae-hyung, and Forestella Go Woo-rim as guests.
First, Cheon Rok-dam confidently introduced himself by revealing that he ranked 3rd in 'Mr. Trot 3.' He explained the reason for transforming into Cheon Rok-dam instead of Lee Jung, saying, "When I decided to participate in 'Mr. Trot 3,' I wanted to go out under a new name rather than as Lee Jung. As my name suggests, I wanted my music to resonate from Cheonje to Baengnokdam. I named myself."
In particular, he expressed bitterness, saying, "I announced my marriage on 'Radio Star' four years ago and lived in Jeju Island, and many events unfolded during that time." In fact, Lee Jung registered his marriage in 2021, establishing a family with his wife. However, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer just one year after the wedding, which brought a sense of regret due to business failures.
Regarding this, Lee Jung noted, "I am now completely cured of kidney cancer," adding a sense of relief. He revealed, "Right after getting married, there was a health examination the following year, and my wife suggested that I should get an abdominal CT scan this year. I did it without much thought. That’s where it was discovered." He continued, "I worried about how to tell others and whether I should quietly undergo surgery alone. I couldn't speak for the first few months. I struggled the most when I found out."
Lee Jung stated, "I did not undergo chemotherapy. Fortunately, my treatment ended with surgery," emphasizing, "It's very rare for kidney cancer to be detected at an early stage. Fortunately, I was treated successfully in the early stages. I feel like I have been reborn." He added, "At that time, I thought I wouldn't be able to sing anymore, and I wondered if this would really be the end. After going through that, everything looks really different. All of the world," he reflected, adding, "If I hadn't gotten married, I wouldn't have known this. I discovered it thanks to my wife. Since then, I have managed well and have been listening to her advice carefully."
Meanwhile, Go Woo-rim attracted significant attention as the 5-year younger husband of figure skating queen Kim Yuna. He shared, "Looking back, my wife said she never imagined she would marry someone younger. I was worried that since there's a five-year age gap, my actions might seem immature. I tried hard to speak well, and I think my most appealing trait was my mature-sounding voice."
He mentioned, "I was 24 years old when I confessed my feelings. I was quite young, and I hadn't even completed my military service yet. It seemed a bit early to bring up marriage. I had been thinking about marriage even before dating, and when I said I wanted to date with marriage in mind, I worried that my confession wouldn't be taken seriously. But she said, 'It's a lifetime commitment, so I'll wait while you serve your year and a half in the military.' Thankfully, she brought up military service first."
Go Woo-rim continued, "Since she's younger, I was worried that calling her by name would make her feel like my younger sister. So I call her 'self' or 'honey.' I started calling her 'self' and now say 'honey' after marriage." He joked, "Before we met, I used to call her 'older sister,' but once we started dating, I couldn’t call her that anymore. If I do, it would upset her."
Receiving immense attention for marrying beloved figure skating queen Kim Yuna, Go Woo-rim expressed whether he felt pressured being viewed as part of the public family as an in-law. Go Woo-rim said, "I think many people were more worried about me than I was about myself." He explained, "But from the moment I met my wife, I thought of it as something I had to accept, so it didn’t feel too burdensome."
"It was rather others around me who felt that way," he commented, adding, "My wife is known for her mental toughness, but one day she told me I seem to have a stronger mental fortitude." Kim Gu-ra praised him, saying, "You seem to have good mental strength without getting anxious." Go Woo-rim agreed, saying, "I haven't done anything wrong," maintaining a confident demeanor.
What is actual married life like? Go Woo-rim stated, "We have never fought," while adding, "However, my wife says I have my own stubbornness. When I feel that something is wrong or don’t like it, I express it. My wife mentioned that if she simply remained calm, it wouldn't have been attractive to her."
