Ahead of the release of season 3 of the Netflix series "Squid Game," actor Lee Byung-hun grants appearance on the popular U.S. NBC talk show "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
On the 17th (local time), during the broadcast of the program, Lee Byung-hun explained, "I have been acting for over 30 years and have participated in several Hollywood blockbuster films, but "Squid Game" is a story from Korea made by a Korean director with Korean actors in the Korean language."
He continued, "When I first read the script, it was a very interesting story with a very unique structure, but I also thought it was so experimental that it would either be a tremendous success or a complete failure," he said.
He revealed that he kept his role as the "Frontman" a secret even from his family. "I didn't even tell my mother, and she got angry after watching the drama later," he laughed, amusing the audience.
When host Jimmy Fallon asked him to respond to questions related to season 3 with an "O" or "X" button, Lee Byung-hun mostly pressed both buttons at the same time, remaining evasive. However, regarding the possibility of a "Frontman" centered spinoff, he chose "O" and said, "I am not sure, but there is a possibility."
He also shared anecdotes related to his children. Lee Byung-hun said, "My 10-year-old son heard about the Frontman from his friends and said, 'Why is dad so mean?,' and 'Dad killed many people,'" eliciting laughter.
Towards the end of the broadcast, Fallon introduced the trailer for season 3 of "Squid Game" and expressed anticipation. "Squid Game" is the most-watched hit of all time on Netflix, and season 3 will be released worldwide on the 27th.
