The group NewJeans has become virtually unable to engage in independent activities as their motion for a temporary injunction was dismissed. Member Daniel attended a brand event held in Japan.
Daniel participated in a product launch event for a Swiss watch brand in Kyoto, Japan, on the 18th. Daniel showcased a unique charm with a silver bob hairstyle.
Notably, it has been reported that Daniel was with the ADOR staff at the event, drawing attention.
Currently, NewJeans, of which Daniel is a member, is in a legal dispute with their agency ADOR. In March, the Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR's motion for a temporary injunction against the five members of NewJeans, stating that the members could not engage in independent activities without prior approval or consent from ADOR.
In response, the members filed an objection, but it was dismissed, and while they immediately appealed, the court rejected it on the 17th, making it difficult for the NewJeans members to engage in independent activities until the main lawsuit concludes.
In particular, the members of NewJeans announced a halt to activities through Hong Kong ComplexCon after the court's decision in March. It has been reported that staff from ADOR, who visited the site to prepare for NewJeans' concert at that time, did not meet with them.
Ultimately, ADOR applied for indirect enforcement against the NewJeans members, who held Hong Kong ComplexCon without ADOR staff following the temporary injunction. The court accepted it, ruling that if NewJeans continues their entertainment activities independently without ADOR's prior approval or consent, they would have to pay 1 billion won to ADOR for each violation.
Nevertheless, the members of NewJeans have made it clear that they do not intend to return to ADOR. During the second hearing of the validity confirmation lawsuit for their exclusive contract on the 5th, when the court asked both sides about their willingness to reach an agreement, the NewJeans side stated, "We need to consult with our client, but trust has already been broken. We have crossed a river that we cannot return to."
After the dismissal of the appeal, ADOR stated on the 18th, "Yesterday, there was a ruling confirming once again that ADOR is the agency of NewJeans. We deeply appreciate the court's judgment" and added, "We hope this decision serves as an opportunity for the members to return to their place as 'NewJeans' and resume activities. The company plans to do its utmost to support NewJeans, which will celebrate its third anniversary next month, so they can achieve greater leaps and growth."
There were also suggestions that Daniel's attendance at the event with ADOR staff could indicate a possibility of return, but Daniel only fulfilled the scheduled commitments as the brand's ambassador, and it has been revealed that NewJeans has been accompanied by ADOR staff for advertising-related schedules since transfer.
As many people's attention focuses on the future path of NewJeans, there is keen interest in what choices the members will make.
