Singer Lee Jung disclosed the reason behind starting tattoos.
Recently, on the YouTube channel 'Tattoo Removal Teacher Young-soo,' singer Lee Jung appeared and confessed about the reasons behind starting tattoos, as well as why he wants to completely remove them.
Lee said, "I first learned about the teacher through YouTube, and I sent in my story myself," adding, "Rather than bad tattoos, I have many tattoos with a story on my body."
He stated, "These days (as a trot singer) I am living as if I have been reborn under a new name called Cheon Nok-dam. I started getting tattoos when I had a lot of bad thoughts. I want to shake off these bad thoughts related to the tattoos that remain on my body. That is why I came here."
He continued, "It was around 2004 when a member I was working with passed away and I got a meaningful lettering (tattoo) in some is hidden on my waist with that friend. After that, I went to Australia for a performance, and I heard there was a tattoo champion, so I just went to take a look and had a treble clef tattooed under my left ear."
The member mentioned by Lee Jung is the late Seo Jae-ho. After finishing a performance in Busan on Aug. 11, 2004, he passed away in an accident while traveling to Seoul on the highway at midnight. He was 22 years old.
The late Seo Jae-ho debuted in 2002 as part of the vocal group 7Dayz, which disbanded, and then re-debuted in 2004 with Wanted. He had worked with Lee Jung in 7Dayz.
Lee Jung also revealed, "It's already been about 10 years, and I felt disillusioned with my activities in the entertainment industry and was mentally and physically exhausted. I completely stopped my activities and went down to Jeju, and from then on, I got one tattoo after another. Looking back now, it seems like a foolish thought, but I thought, 'If tattoos can be seen, I can't broadcast.' So I started getting more tattoos from then on since I wasn't trying to do broadcasts anymore."
