Singer Lee Jeong said she had tattoos all over her body in the past and that this currently limits her in broadcasting.
Recently, on the YouTube channel 'Yongsu Teacher, Who Erases Tattoos,' singer Lee Jeong appeared and confessed about the reasons she started getting tattoos, as well as the reasons she wants to completely remove them.
Lee Jeong, who started getting her first tattoo after the death of her close friend Seo Jae-ho in 2004, said, "Even 10 years ago, I felt a great sense of doubt in the entertainment industry and was very exhausted both mentally and physically." She continued, "I completely stopped my activities and went down to Jeju Island, and from that time on, I got one tattoo after another. In hindsight, it seems foolish, but I thought, 'If there are visible tattoos, I won’t be able to broadcast.' Now that I don't want to be on air, I started getting more tattoos from that time on."
Lee Jeong expressed her desire to remove her tattoos, saying, "It's not that I regret my tattoos or find them unpleasant, or that it's too hard to have them, but I want to get rid of the bad thoughts from that time. And the genre I'm working in as a singer (Cheonrokdam) is different from what I used to do. Since it's trot, I want to go on stage in a clean and organized manner. So, I made a big decision."
The doctor asked, "Have you ever felt discomfort or limitations in broadcasting or performances because of your tattoos?" and Lee Jeong replied, "There are limitations. When I go on air, it's not possible to do so, and I always perform while wearing a sleeve. I have been performing all the time like that. I can't continue like this forever, so I think it's time to make a big decision."
