As allegations emerged concerning the member Ju Haknyeon's suspension from activities related to a former AV actress, their agency, One Hundred, acknowledged the situation and decided on his departure from the team and termination of the exclusive contract.
On the 18th, One Hundred released a statement saying, "We took immediate action to suspend Ju Haknyeon’s activities upon receiving information that he was involved in a private life issue, and we took time to closely verify the facts."
They continued, "As a result, we took the seriousness of the matter heavily and clearly recognized that it would be difficult to maintain trust as an artist. Therefore, after sufficient discussions with the members of The Boyz, we have finalized Ju Haknyeon's departure from the team and termination of the exclusive contract."
At the same time, One Hundred requested understanding, saying, "This decision is an unavoidable measure to protect the members of The Boyz and the team. Ju Haknyeon has ended all activities as a member of The Boyz as of today," and added, "One Hundred will spare no support and effort to ensure the remaining members of The Boyz can continue their activities healthily and without disruption."
The agency also added, "Once again, we sincerely apologize to our fans for any concern this may have caused, and we will do our best to repay you with better news about our activities in the future."
Previously, on the 16th, One Hundred announced officially that Ju Haknyeon would temporarily suspend team activities due to personal circumstances, while on the 18th, a media outlet reported that it obtained a questionnaire from the Japanese magazine Shūkan Bunshun.
According to the report, Ju Haknyeon visited a bar in Roppongi with acquaintances from Japan on the night of the 29th of last month. It was reported that he was seen with the former AV actress Asuka Kirara at the drinking party, which continued until the early morning of the next day, where they were hugging and Asuka Kirara was seen resting her chin on Ju Haknyeon's shoulder.
Asuka Kirara debuted as an AV actress in 2007 and retired in 2020, and she is currently active as an influencer.
Meanwhile, Ju Haknyeon rose to fame through Mnet's 'Produce 101 Season 2' in 2017 and debuted in the same year as a member of The Boyz.
