Choo Young-Woo revealed stories ranging from his rejection of a casting offer from JYP to his audition failures.

In the episode of tvN's entertainment program 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz') that aired on the 18th, Choo Young-Woo made his reappearance after six years, meeting Yoo Jaeseok and Cho Sae-ho.

Six years ago, Choo Young-Woo appeared as a student from the Korea National University of Arts met on the street. When he reappeared, he boasted a special relationship with 'You Quiz,' prompting Yoo Jaeseok and Cho Sae-ho to express their delight.

Meanwhile, Choo Young-Woo drew attention by revealing that his family has a modeling background. His father was top model Choo Seung-il in the 1990s, and his younger brother Choo Jung-Woo, who is three years younger, is also active as a model and actor.

In particular, Choo Young-Woo surprised everyone by confessing that he had received a casting offer from JYP during high school but turned it down. He explained, "At that time, I was focused on studying and couldn't even think about going to auditions. It felt like a completely different world."

On the other hand, Choo Young-Woo, who had been accepted to three universities—Korea National University of Arts, Sejong University, and Seoul Institute of the Arts—revealed the story of his re-application. He said, "I was accepted to Sejong University as a current student the previous year. At that time, I was working as a security guard in a luxury store when I got a call saying my acceptance was canceled. They even refunded my enrollment deposit. I was shocked and went home without taking off my staff badge and in-ear monitor. My parents rushed to the school too. They didn’t know the tuition payment deadline had been moved up."

He added, "I had gotten close to my classmates, and then I couldn't enter the school. I even filmed an acceptance video at the academy and received congratulations from my friends, but I told the teacher in charge that I might have to re-apply."

Successfully re-applying, after entering the Korea National University of Arts, Choo Young-Woo said he auditioned extensively. He said, "When I checked my document app, I found about 200-300 scripts. I auditioned for at least 100 times. But in 2021 and 2022, I auditioned for almost everything but was eliminated."

At that time, Choo Young-Woo applied for numerous auditions for dramas like 'Shuroop,' 'Penthouse,' 'Hwanhon,' 'D.P,' and 'Delivery Man,' but he was rejected in all of them. When Yoo Jaeseok and Cho Sae-ho expressed surprise, asking, "Why were you rejected for all of them?" Choo Young-Woo said, "I really auditioned for almost everything. They looked at my Korea National University of Arts title and commented, 'Is he really from Korea National University of Arts?' and 'He doesn’t act well enough; that person really needs to work harder.' I still remember all those comments. Each one of them was critical for me."

He recounted, "My father said, 'If you don't become an actor, our family isn’t wealthy, so you need to work for a living, and you should at least get a certification for backup in case you don’t make it as an actor.' I got upset and declared that I would act until I die. I said it didn’t matter if I couldn’t make money."

Reflecting on this now, Choo Young-Woo shared, "I’m really thankful looking back because having an audition as a short-term goal made me live diligently in the remaining days. So I couldn’t help but improve my acting."
